Disappointing dinner. As a local who has had great sandwiches from Fitzpatrick’s Deli, I was excited to see how they did with dinner. The new place is very nice, comfortable seating, upscale looking, modern. One bad point is it was freezing cold! I heard waitresses apologizing to another table for the temp, which led me to believe they didn’t have much control over it.The menu looked outstanding, really different type things than you can get other places. Kind of on the expensive side, don’t expect deli prices. We started with Reuben egg rolls, $8.95 for 2. They were okay, but maybe a little skinny for the price, could’ve used more corned beef. If there was cheese inside them, I couldn’t see it or taste it. They came with Russian dressing for dipping. Next came a very small dinner salad and good bread. Butter was in a dish vs. the little packets you have to open individually, and not too cold to spread (one of my pet peeves is ice cold butter served with room temp bread).I ordered something called French-cut chicken breast, which came with spinach and au gratin potatoes. The chicken ($14.95) was a small but delicious 1/2 breast, expertly seasoned and cooked. The spinach was also delicious, perfectly cooked and with a lot of flavor. The potatoes were a huge disappointment. I ordered this dish mainly because the thought of creamy, cheesy potatoes was very appealing, but these were done in a lasagna style, with slices of cold, undercooked potatoes stacked with cold unmelted cheese, though I don’t think it was supposed to be served cold and perhaps it would have been better if they had served it hot and actually melted the cheese. This dish was really almost inedible as it was, and I should have sent them back, but was too hungry and didn’t want my chicken to be ruined by waiting for them to re-do the potatoes. My partner ordered short ribs, served with mashed potatoes and vegetable. His mashed potatoes were ice cold also, really his whole dish was served cold (only my potatoes were cold) and he did send his back. He did not think his ribs were good, in fact he is convinced he was served pot roast cut into rib shape. He would have complained more, but he held back out of deference to me and ensuring I had a nice time. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive, and very concerned and apologetic about the things we were unhappy with. All in all was disappointing. I would give them another chance (with a heavy sweater in tow), as I feel it may be a matter of knowing what’s good and what to stay away from, but we probably won’t go back because my partner is not one to give another chance when he feels he was served poor quality food

ENJOYED OUR BREAKFAST. We stopped in to Fitzpatrick’s to get some breakfast while in Somers Point, NJ on business. Nice atmosphere, excellent waitress, and our order arrived quickly despite the restaurant being busy. My wife got an egg over easy, with toast, and fruit salad. I got poached eggs with homemade corned beef hash. My wife said her egg was tasty, but a bit runny and small. My homemade corned beef has was excellent, made with corned beef, potato, onion and green pepper. The corned beef has covered the whole, very large, plate. My poached eggs were done correctly. I would have like less corned beef hash and another egg. We had fresh orange juice and coffee. The orange juice was primo, the coffee a bit strong but good. Our waitress was very attentive. In fact all the staff we encountered were very courteous. We plan on returning not only for breakfast, but lunch, and dinner too. We live about 35 minutes away and it is certainly worth the ride.

Where is the old Fitz. Have been going to Fitzpatrick’s since their original location. Went for dinner on a Friday night for the first time since they moved. No more hot turkey with fries and gravy, no more hot roast beef, no more Neptune Salad (this is what I had my heart set on getting) . Service was lousy and there seemed to be a lot of help. Ordered mussels in red sauce, the odor coming off them was BAD, couldn’t and wouldn’t eat them. We got some old favorites from the old Fitz corned beef special, and turkey specials, with onion rings which where all good but not what I went there for. We were never asked how the meal was, I think I would have been perfectly honest for once if they had, really disappointing.

Not for dinner. So I have been a fan of Fitz’s forever but was very disappointed in our first experience as a steakhouse.I wish I was asked how we enjoyed our dinner so I would have had the opportunity to say. The service was bad. The prices were very high! The portions were small. No substitutions on the $28.00 entree come on can’t have french fries instead of baked potato? No choice on veg. no salad included with such a pricey meal? My caesar salad was nearly $8.00 and was the size of a side salad with not nearly enough dressing no fresh parm.OK I sound horrible but really…..you can’t just call yourself a steakhouse because you added a couple of steak entrees to your menu. I could have had twice the food for half the price at The Wind Jammer. I have no affiliation with the Wind Jammer but I ate there the weekend before and can’t help but compare.

Fitzpatrick’s. One of the best breakfasts around. Try the corned beef hash and eggs.

Yum. Good local spot. The corned beef was just great. I don’t get up to NJ very often but when I do this is one of my gotta haves.
