Just like being in Spain. We were warmly welcomed into this intimate Spanish Restaurant…they call you family here…staff and patrons laughed and joked with each other as we enjoyed the evening together….The food choices were plentiful….I enjoyed empinada appetizer…my entree option was Panga, spanish fish…it was awesome…were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and quality….what a great experience!
Spanish cuisine at it’s best!. Dinner here was phenomenal. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting. I had the paella Marinera and it was excellent. A lot of flavor, the rice cooked to perfection, and a lot of great shellfish! The waiters were very attentive and pleasant. I also recommend the Sangria, both red and white are delicious.
My wife has the empanadas which was a special today and very delicious. I had the paella alla Valencia. Very good! The service here is the best we have had in a long time. You will not be disappointed.
We missed the Flamenco, but loved the food. We selected Malaga Restaurant in Hamilton Square because it’s a midway meeting point for a group of friends from Northern and Southern New Jersey. One couple of the group has been here before. We also booked it on a Wednesday for the flamenco dancing, and were disappointed when, two days before our reservation, I was called to say that the dancers had canceled their show. However, we were certainly not disappointed with our evening at Malaga. The modern dcor is offset with paintings of Spanish scenes. Tables are linen covered. Discrete lighting casts a flattering glow over the entire dining room. Even on a Wednesday evening the restaurant was full. The meal was superb. Being a group of six, we had a varied selection. Appetizers included clams casino, empanadas, mussels and a platter of Spanish sausages sauted with shrimp and mushrooms, which they encourage you to share. I ordered a chef’s special entre, broiled scallops in a lemon cream sauce, paired with bacon wrapped filet mignon medallions in mushroom sauce. Somehow, the filets were mixed with sausage, giving the meat an unusual flavor. I was amazed at how the two disparate sauces blended with their individual entrees to tease the palate. Other entrees, equally superb, were paella marinara, and veal, one in a mushroom sauce, one in lemon. The meal was completed with flan, crme caramel, sorbets and extremely creamy cappuccino. We were invited to try their signature after dinner drink, an amoretto-type liquor.Service was impeccable. Friendly, attentive waiters catered to our every request. They recognized that we were there for companionship, and were treated to a leisurely meal, This was done as an accommodation to us. My one complaint might be their reluctance to serve water. We asked twice at the beginning of our meal and twice afterward for refills. We had no problems with additional bottles of wine, however, so I considered this a very minor inconvenience.Malaga is a bit pricey, but well worth it.
