I believe the only Puerto Rican rest in Trenton.. Im Puerto Rican and its a shame to say I dont know how to cook Arroz con Gandules, nor I cook fried foods but I can cook everything else (I make a mean Pernil asado.) So thank goodness for these rests around my way. I have to say Tropicals quality of the food is not the same each time and either is the pricing, most of the time it is affordable. It seems to me they have different chefs/cooks on any given day (you tell with the rice and roast pork, tastes diff at times) order the same stuff each time and get a different price every time but in general the food is good, especially when you dont have it all the time. As for the service goes never had a problem, waitresses are very nice and hospitable. I would recommend.
I love it there, it is soooo good! My favorite is the Mofongo with shrimp!! Amazing dish and great service!!
Disappointment. I agree with many of you, however I worked in the area for about two years and went there pretty often. The quality of the food is not the same each time and either is the pricing or the serving of food. I order the same stuff each time and get a different price every time. That’s nuts. It is totally a shame when you complain and they don’t care. Because that is what you get there. And all of the times my orders were 60.00 plus. At least once a week, you would think they would get to know you and take care of you for such a repeat customer. But I just go over the bridge and go to Porky’s or Freddy and Tony’s for better pricing, quantity and quality. When they are on point with their food and service, it is awesome,but it is rare. What a shame because Spanish food is the best food in the world. 2 out of 5 stars…
Dinner Date. Took wifey and my son to this restaurant just to check it out and all three of us agree, Food, service and the atmosphere was GREAT!!! I do recommend!!
Best Latin Food I ever tried. I’Ve been several times to this Restaurant and everytime I go the offer great service and the Food is the best Iv’e tried even I’m from Puerto Rico and live in Mt Laurel NJ compared to other Restaurant that are good for me this one is Outstanding.
What a disapointment……. My first experience at this restaurant was during a visit to Trenton about seven months ago, at that time the ambience, the drinks , the music and the food was exquisite and fabulous. Last night, I came back to NJ with my family and very proudly I invited them to the Tropical Family Restaurant. Saddly I have to comment that the experience with the food was horrible, the meat was overcooked, the meat cut was tough and full of fat, the drinks were not prepare accordingly (later on we were told that they did not have a bartender) and the service was not the same. When I complained to the owner her attitude and her demeanor was the worst delivery of customer satisfaction.The owner statement was that I had to pay the bill regardless of the lack of service, food quality and bad taste. What a shame.
