I’m glad I decided to give this place a chance before reading Yelp reviews. If I’d read the scary ones, I might’ve given it a pass.Parking was a problem. The arc around the restaurant was full, so I had to park back by the motel. I wasn’t sure that was safe but I figured the below-freezing temperatures would keep miscreants from wandering around the part of the parking lot that I couldn’t see from the restaurant.Once inside, I thought service was pretty prompt and polite. That was the case initially, although as the restaurant filled up for dinner, the server became less and less attentive as she started having other tables to work.I thought the food was pretty decent. However, my tactic is to always pick from the limited-time specials because Denny’s has a vested interest in making sure those dishes are better than average. So I had the crazy spicy skillet, which was actually not too crazy or spicy but just crazy and spicy enough to be interesting.
You don’t expect much from Denny’s, I’ve come here since I was young, but this experience just put the cherry on the huge iced cake. I’m pregnant and wanted to try their build your own skillet deal. It came with no cheese, no gravy, literally a tablespoon of hashbrowns and the rest of the skillet was covered in raw onions. I showed the waitress who totally apologized before I said a word and took mine and my fiance’s , who’s was also a disaster, back. We ended up, 20 minutes later (so now an hour of waiting in total), with a plate each of barely cooked hashbrowns, cheese that was completely cold and still in shred form on top, and nothing else we each got as toppings. We ended up eating our skillets cold, on a plate with half of what we paid to have on it. It was a shame:(. The manager totally took care of us and made sure we didn’t pay for the skillets but we were left not having a good experience. We came to enjoy a meal and even though our bill was reduced that wasn’t what we came and wasted over an hour of our time for.
