Lobster and Crab Bisque Soup. Great food and an excellent Lobster and Crab Bisque soup. I go back to the original seafood store as I discussed with you. The food was great and as someone that does some of his own cooking, I would love to have that recipe. A truly delicious soup and meal. I will be back soon. Thank you,Bill
Bon Voyage Cap’n Cat. We have been going to Cap’n Cat Clam Bar for 18 years. Tonight was our last visit. Over the years we have witnessed a decline in quality and an incline in price. Without other options in the area for crab legs we hesitated to return. Surprise to us, they were out of DUNGENOUS CRAB LEGS. Reluctantly we substituted KING CRAB LEGS. They were $9 more a pound and were freezer burned and poorly cooked. We feel bad for the good staff who continually have to apologize for the failing restaurant. Bon voyage Cap’n Cats.
My fiance and I just split a few appetizers here for lunch and we both loved it. The lobster bisque was great, calamari was good (tentacles + rings which I love) but not as crunchy as I prefer… fried clam strips & oysters rockefeller were also great. It’s BYOB which is pretty neat (not many restaurants like that where we’re from in FL) They sell fresh seafood in the front but the smell wasn’t super strong or unpleasant.
From Bad to Worse…. So, I had a craving for seafood last night, and I made the mistake of going to Cap’n Cat’s. I ordered my food to go, since I live less than 3 miles from the place. The Lobster & Crab Bisque, was no only bland, and room temperature at best. It also tasted mostly like a undercooked roux. My entree was The Deluxe Fried Combo. IT consisted of 3 scallops, 4 tiny and I mean tiny shrimp, 1 fried oyster, 1 crab cake, and a filet of flounder. And 1 thimble full of tarter, and 1 thimble full of cocktail sauce. The scallops were ok, but did not seem fresh, the tiny shrimp were atrocious they tasted freezer burnt, and tough, the 1 oyster was completely dried out, the crab cake was OK, but the meat was dry, and the flounder was with out a doubt frozen at some point. I have learned my lesson, and will not go back for prepared food from this place, however they had clams and frozen crab legs, and the Salmon looks as if it were fresh a few days ago.
Good food ~~ Horrible service. We have gone here several times but since the last time it seems that the workers there have gotten extremely lazy. We walked in and one of the women just threw the menus on a table and said sit here. After about 10 minutes and my husband and I contemplating to leave and go to Ritz Seafood, the same women came back over and asked if we wanted something to drink. We asked for ice tea. What I saw next was at least to me shocking, she poured the ice tea out of a pitcher that was sitting in the middle of a cart filed with half eaten food and dirty dishes. We should have left then but we didn’t. Then I would say another 10 minutes goes by with waitresses passing by our table without stopping till finally someone came over to take our order. When the food came out and I will say that the cooks at least know their job, the food was good, we asked our waitress for the check since we were going to the movies and wanted to save time. She brought the check an then never came back for the money. Finally when we were just about done we had to waive someone down to find our waitress to pay the bill. They were all too busy in the back of the restaurant talking to each other to worry about their tables. Needless to say we will not be back to this local restaurant any time soon.
Love the food, but you smell like a fish fry when you leave.
