Great place for the entire family. My wife and I love this place so much we would go every week if we could. Our two girls, (now 11 & 9), are always asking us to go to Fujiyama. This is the one place where my girls eat EVERYTHING from the salad, soup to the main course. They cant finish it because the portions are generous. The staff is friendly and the owner loves to sing Happy Birthday if one is being celebrated. This is our go-to place and most of the people we speak to feel the same way. Looks like they are expanding which is nice to see. Never had a bad meal or experience and we have been going for years now.
Not worth it. The food was average and pricey. When waiting in a line after already making a reservation, the staff completely ignored us. I had to find out from other people in the line that everyone else had reservations too. Very disrespectful.
If you enjoy Japanese food this is the place to eat if you are in the area. The food and service is excellent; and, I am now a regular – as I eat at this restaurant at least twice a month.
Hibachi – Tight Seating, but worth it. Fujiyama has been around for a few years, and still preparing incredible food. I’m used to seeing these types of locations slip after being open for a period of time, Fujiyama is still going strong and maintaining a growing fan base. It’s a great time every visit.
The sushi here is great. Service is usually good. I have done hibachi but favor the sushi more. Everything is fresh. The restaurant is always immaculate. The owners are extremely friendly and genuinely want you have a great experience. I have never had a bad dish or experience here and I have been going since they first opened.
SECOND CHANCE WAS A BIG MISTAKE. This is the only restaurant I have ever gone back to after having a bad experience, and boy what a huge mistake that was! After moving to the Hackettstown area, I was delighted to see there was a Japanese place because I love sushi. My husband and I went there about two years ago and there were lipstick marks on my tea cup. Nick Kim, the owner (bald guy) seemed unphased and told the waitress bring me a new one. I ordered some sashimi and a roll that had pieces of apple in it, but I told her not to include the apple because I am allergic. The roll came out with apples in it. I walked over to tell Nick Kim and got no apology, he almost seemed annoyed at me. So we pay the bill (the place is totally overpriced but you won t find sushi anywhere else in the area) and leave with no intention of ever going back. Now, two years later we (against my husband s will) went back tonight. We ordered a Spider Roll, Sashimi Dinner for me and Chicken Teriyaki for my husband. For almost $11, the Spider Roll consisted if 4 pieces (it has always been 6 everywhere else I have been). The waitress brings me a Sushi Dinner that comes with a tuna roll and I told her I didn t order that. She seemed completely shocked when I told her I ordered the Sashimi Dinner, which was bizarre since I was asking her a bunch of questions such as what types of fish come with it. Here is the BEST part… the chicken in my husband s dinner was dry and cut into small cube-like pieces. It tasted like it was previously frozen, similar to what it used in frozen meals. He told the waitress that it was very dry and he didn t want it. She went to get Nick Kim and it was like de ja vu. He just stood there and looked at us with a blank stare so my husband tells him it was dry. He raises his arm (in front of us and several other customers) and yells to the waitress, TAKE IT OUT OF HERE! Then they both walk away. He returns a few minutes later to tell us that he tasted the chicken, and that it is not dry. REALLY???? We will NEVER be going there again obviously. Good luck to anyone that chooses to waste their money there and you better hope you get exactly what you order, and that you not dare complain if you don t like it! This guy is a real joke. BEWARE!!!!!!!
The hibachi is so fun!
