Blood and Money. Horrendous, save yourself a trip and keep your pockets full. I dined at this establishment during NJ Restaurant Week, which was advertised through friday. I happened to dine there on thursday, when they conveniently cut short their 35$ menu. What was supposed to be a 70 dollar dinner for 2, turned into a 170 dollar nightmare. From the cocktails which were so sour they were undrinkable, to the BLOODY BONE MARROW, this place is a disaster. The wait-staff seemed to be mocking the diners, and the managers seems unconcerned with the clientele as well. Oh, and we were overcharged for an item.. namely the bloody bone marrow.
The worst. Went to Uproot early evening on a Saturday. My party was not impressed. We had salads initially. One salad contained the plastic packaging that comercially prepared salad greens are packaged in. The wait staff seemed unimpressed by this 3 inch long sharp edged shard [ as if this seemed to be a daily occurrence]. The manager also seemed unimpressed, and rather than remove the cost of the salad, provided an additional cheese plate for dessert without asking us first. How much cheese can 4 people consume? Additionally, I ordered the marrow bones as an additonal side, they were presented from the kitchen luke warm at best. I complained to the waitress, who took the bones back to the kitchen. They were returned 5 minutes later in a carbonized state and inedible. We were also charged for the bones. My experience at uproot was unpleasant and I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.
Loved it!. From the moment we walked in, Uproot won us over. We were so pleasantly greeted and didn’t even realize the jaw-dropping design until we were half way to our table. The service was attentive. Coming at just the right time, never to soon or too late. The cocktails were inventive, but not over the top, balanced and just right. The meal was beautiful. We did the tasting menu. It was prepared to perfection, every course. The sommelier paired wines. Some were familiar, some were different, all were delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who truly wants a dining experience!
Disappointing. Service was very attentive. Restaurant design is interesting and very modern and open. The bar area is very comfortable and inviting. It’s not a romantic dining spot, though. Food presentation was creative and artistic, but flavor was lacking and very mediocre tasting; portions are very small. The restaurant is very overpriced for what it is. Dinner for two with a glass of wine, no dessert, was $110. I don’t anticipate returning.
High prices, poor service. The prices were high . The food was good. The service was poor. This restaurant is a poor value.
Well done. Had the chance to eat at Uproot last night and the food was some of the best I’ve had in the area. High quality ingredients prepared with care. Tried the duck, pork loin and halibut all of which I’d recommend. As for the quality vs. quantity…I wish we Americans could get over more being more and thus better. If you’re looking for giant portions, this isn’t the restaurant for you. If you enjoy dining and appreciate well prepared food, definitely worth your time and money.
OK… But. Service was Pleasant and Food was good but unfortunately with prices that high it has to be a little better. Cheesecake was only real let down, i think in some aspects they are trying too hard to be innovative.
