Really this resturant was about what you got. The servers go from anywhere from great to probally blind. Getting a check can range from 1-30 minutes. There food was also based on what you get some of the flavors don’t go write or overtake others. The soup was good until they put shrimp into the lobster bisque. With the shrimp it over powers that lobster. Also the oysters weren’t that fresh and not worth there price.
Disappointing on All Levels. We were looking forward to dining here after passing the restaurant on a number of occasions. We were sadly disappointed. Service was slow, the food was poorly prepared and we even had difficulty trying to pay.It took about 30 minutes for our appetizers to appear. The pastry on the beef pot pie was burned and the filling had an overpowering acidic taste that obscured the any of the other flavors of in the pie. More than half an hour passed between clearing the appetizers and serving the main course. In the mean time we were visited by a server inquiring as to whether we had ordered the lobster mac and cheese (we had not). He wandered around from table to table looking for the person who ordered the dish. It did not seem as though the delays came from our server. She was attentive and apologetic. The problems seemed to come from the kitchen. The lobster sandwich was fine except that it contained chili that was not mentioned on the menu (this is more of a personal peeve than a problem with the preparation, the menu should mention unusual ingredients in common offerings) The grilled swordfish was burned. There is a difference between grillmarks and carmelization and charcoal. About a third of the fish was dry and chewy. The carrot cake was likely made in-house but elements of it seemed like they had been frozen after preparation and defrosted too quickly so that there was a freezer-burn flavor. The evening ended with our server informing us that the systems were down and we would have to wait until they could get it working again before we could pay. The manager was apologetic but offered no alternative solution or compensation for the inconvenience. For the price this really should have been a much better experience.
3 of us stopped in for lunch. 2 of the orders came out wrong. The food was sent back to the kitchen where it sat for 20 minutes and was then brought back to the table cold. Lunch was completely ruined and we received no sincere apology. Horrendous service for an upscale establishment. Shame on them!
Terrible service. Based on last night’s service, I too feel compelled to write this review and hope that management makes some changes. Extremely disappointed! The beautiful weather and atmosphere drew what I can only guess was an unexpected crowd to the outdoor section at McLloone’s Boathouse last night. Before getting a table, my friend and I went to the bar and ordered drinks to take to our table. We sat down and while we chatted, not one server visitied our table or any of the other tables where 2 or 3 people sat together. In the 2 hours we were there, we witnessed 5 tables leaving after getting frustrated due to lack of service. We did seek out management, not to complain, but in order to get service. 2 Managers attended to us, but we still hadn’t received drinks, so they sent the bartender over. He took our order and then we waited yet another 20 minutes before a manger realized we still hadn’t been brought our drinks. When the food finally arrived (1 hour later), the appetizer had 5 pieces of bread with the spinach dip. We asked our server for utensils and napkins, and the rest of our missing appetizer (another 10 minutes). Finally, a server (Alex) noticing our frustration, came over to speak with us, apologized profusely and brought us another round of drinks. The female manager with whom we spoke earlier came by also but didn’t seem as concerned as our waiter, or for that matter the other manager Jihad, which is bothersome because she seemed to be in charge. As a frequent customer, I felt she didn’t offer us any incentive to return or for continued repeat business.Unfortunately, I will not continue to be a customer, mostly due to management’s lack of attentiveness. As an alternative, I’d suggest Egan’s outdoor space with an attentive waitstaff, good portions and great atmosphere.
Average food, short ribs were dry and the risotto was essentially regular rice with vegetables mixed in. The female restroom in the dining area was messy and it took 40 min to pay the bill. Not recommended for the price.
Disappointing. I have been here more times than they deserve. I’ve eaten dinner at least 3 times, brunch once and lunch once. I have to say the food is underwhelming. Calamari salad was ok, but how can you screw up fried food. Salmon was dry and overcooked, crabby patty was fun in name only. Also dry. Brunch was a complete disaster. The two people manning the omelette station had no idea how to cook an omelette. First, they poured a ton of oil into the pan. Then they added even more oil once the eggs were starting to cook. When it was finished, it was in pieces and looked like mush. Taste was understandably oily and inedible. They had lots of cooked items that are more lunch related. But breakfast was underrepresented. Bacon was undercooked. That is just gross. Service is also a disappointment. While the wait staff is friendly, they have not been trained and have no idea how to wait a table. I did it for 10 years so I feel justified in commenting. When we asked for something like sugar or milk to go with coffee, it did not arrive until we were finished with our coffee. Orange juice also arrived towards the end of the meal. Now we get to the check. Brunch at $30 per person for not only terrible eggs but a poor selection of breakfast type items is totally unforgivable. To add insult to injury, they have the gall to charge 18% gratuity for a buffet meal. Even if everything was fantastic, gratuities for buffets are typically lower than a conventionally served meal for obvious reasons. Prices overall are at the NYC level and totally unjustified. The only thing one can say positive about the place is the atmosphere which I believe the County is largely responsible for. It is a beautiful setting with soaring ceilings. If you really want to go, I would go for drinks and finger food. The Thai chicken wings are not bad. And they do know how to pour a drink. Othewise, save your money and the aggravation and skip it.
