Decent sports bar in Iselin.Went to have a few drinks with an office colleague to celebrate his birthday on a Thursday evening. The first thing you notice about the place is the huge number of big screen TVs covering every wall of the bar. And each showing a different sport right from ice hockey to baseball and WWE Around 8pm the place had 4 or 5 tables occupied but as the night progressed we saw a steady stream of guests coming in.They generally have some decent offers running pretty much everyday. We ordered blue moon beer which was at $5 per and a strawberry margarita. Both were good. I ordered another cocktail, dont recall the name, it had 3 ingredients- one of which was marshmallows for garnishing. My server took the order but 10 mins later when she placed my drink in front of me she said -Sorry, we are out of marshmallows Out of 3 ingredients in a drink, if you dont have 1 at least inform your customer before going ahead with the order. This really disappointed me. On top of that, the drink didnt taste good Thankfully the food didnt disappoint. In food we ordered Cajuan Steak bites in chicken and tuna. Both were really yummy (same flavours since the spices/ Masala was the same) specially the tuna.Service was good. The bill took longer than usual time to appear.Music was pretty good, not too loud.A good place to catch up with pals to enjoy a good game.
Terrible. Sunday May 3rdI was meeting both my friends at Big Shots with my fianc. I had remembered my horrible experiences at this establishment from about 3 years ago, so she had to fight tooth and nail to get me to even walk in. There was a very belligerent drunk man that was annoying but tolerable to deal with. another man decided that he needed to give him a drunk test before letting him walk out the door. Finding out that the kid was drunk , he went on to call the kid a N*****. When the kid walked away he decided to go on about how he hates black people, calling them every different offensive words pertaining to him being black, saying he wanted to take his airbags out and let the N***** crash and die, and even looking at the security guards asking them if they agree if he’s a N*****. He then started to start with my friend that I was with, after hitting on his girlfriend and my fianc. Telling him to go outside and fight him. I turned around and told the guy that I was just trying to enjoy a meal with my friends and fianc, and the guy kept rambling on about how he wanted to fight. The security guards never kicked him out, the manager did not kick him out, so we decided to pay our tab and just walk away from the problem before it got out of hand. And only until I told the manager that my fianc was pregnant- he tried to take care of a piece of the bill. The manager let the racist guy stay in the bar instead of kicking him out and letting us finish our meal. Other then the bar tender being awesome, the security and the manager obviously agreed with this guys racism and probably thought it was okay for him to start fights because we had to decide to leave instead of the manager asking the racist to leave. The renovations looked awesome, but unfortunately the customer service will never change. It’s a little sad when I can’t even enjoy a meal with my family. These people agree with racism, are okay with fighting, and we will never be going there again. Our friends that were with have 8-10 years restaurant experience, and write a very long, in detail, restaurant blog that ALOT of people follow. Not to mention that we know almost everyone in the Edison-New Brunswick area.If you don’t feel like being called the N word, or dealing with racism – DONT GO HEREGrubandGulpGuide.blogspot.com – hope the boss reads
