A buddy and I had dinner hear on the recommendation of a coworker and this place was great. We both had the Carne Adovada plate which was wonderful and shared a basket of sopapillas.The restaurant location is beautiful too, with gardens around the building.Definitely recommend this place.

So disappointed! The family and I went to have brunch after Mass. It was raining out and the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. They seated us in the back patio that was enclosed which was fine, right next to the fire. Then the wait began. We waited for ten minutes and without any acknowledgement. It was only on our way out that we were noticed. There was six of us in our party, we would have easily spent $100. Guess they didn’t need our money. Never going back.
Went here for dinner with several other friends. I have been here quite a few times over the past 20 years – we are native residents. The last few visits have seen the quality of the food decline. This last visit was very disappointing. The majority of our party ordered combo plates. When our entrees came out, several of us questioned if that was really what we ordered – portions were quite small and not what we are used to in other similar restaurants around town. We all ordered our food with either green chile, red chile or both. There was no chile on any of the plates – we had to ask for the chile which they brought us in separate bowls. The chile rellenos were the most disappointing part: they looked like something generically deep-fried one would get at a fair NOT in New Mexico. Completely devoid of any chile on the top as well. The enchilada was all but lost and super tiny. The carne adovada was dry and bland. The rolled beef taco tasted like Jose Ole taquitos from the frozen section. Again, no chile on any of our plates. We asked for hot chile – it was mild at best to us native chile eaters. In a state that prides itself on the best green chile in the world, El Pinto does not seem to use Hatch green chile for its rellenos. I was VERY disappointed in this generic tasting and scantily presented ‘new mexican’ food. I am a frequent visitor around town and around northern NM in mexican and new mexican restaurants but I won’t be going back to El Pinto any time soon. They have really sacrificed quality for quantity as far as herding customers in and out. And it’s very expensive – definitely overpriced. The best part of El Pinto is the ambiance – it is a beautiful restaurant if a bit noisy. The sopaipillas are very good too. Service was quite good – it’s a shame that the food quality does not match any longer.
