I really wanted to like this place. I’ve drove by it countless time over the last year anticipating it’s opening. The beer is OK- nothing better than any of the other run of the mill microbrews in the city. I tried the Village Wit and would rather have had a Blue Moon. The food was no better than what I could make at home- soggy fries, salad out of a bag. I had the chicken sandwich. The chicken was moist, but otherwise didn’t have much flavor other than the Swiss cheese smothered over the top. My husband had the brat. He said it was good, but didn’t eat the bun because it was too small and smothered with too much kraut and mustard. The service also left something to be desired- we sat at the bar and bartenders seemed busy, were generally unfriendly and didn’t check on us very often. It took awhile to get our check and when they finally ran it, realized that it had been switched with another patron at the other end of the bar. Hopefully this doesn’t turn into 2 charges on my card. Otherwise, the building and patio are nice and could be a cool place to hang out if only they stop cutting corners. Sorry Steel Bender Brewyard!
