After dining at this restaurant for the past 10 years, we will no longer return. Service and food used to be very good. We ordered Shumai, a sushi roll and bibambop. Shumai was obviously not housemade. The roll was very average. But the bibambop was what really disappointed. Billed as a hotpot, it came in a cold bowl, full of romaine, overly salty beef and the opposite of umami. Lukewarm rice. We cannot believe the poor quality. Sorely disappointed. We will not be back.
Inferior food, high prices. Agreeing with other recent reviewers – the service is strange, not really welcoming, rather rude, reaching across us to set down water , nearly colliding with fork in hand eating. The bim-bambap is terrible – hard egg, gristly meat – no subtlety to sauce – also the noodle soups. Maybe sushi and sashimi better – others can decide. The only good thing is the tempura -nice batter.Servings small – price high. There are dozens of better Asian places.
The service is so unusual, you might want to go here just to experience it yourself.. The three older women serving a restaurant 5% full seem so angry by our intrusive presence, that they seemed to be arguing about who would have to wait on us. The argument only lasted five minutes, in plain view. The loser of the argument rudely took our order, and remained curt, borderline abusive for the rest of the meal. We had visited this establishment occasionally for nearly nine years. This place has gone seriously downhill. The food is no longer worth paying for. The service is interesting, even amusing…However, we will not return!
Best Sushi in town. Went back to our go to Sushi restaurant Ichiban and found it better than ever. The fish was fresh, the rice was moist the the nori was crip. Salmon skin hand roll was yummy. Spider roll was crunchy and the soft shell was perfectly cooked in fresh oil crunchy and delicious. Yellowtail and eel were firm and fresh, We have been going to Ichiban for many years and they consistently produce great meals. Last night was better than ever. Not Noda but as sushi goes superb! Competive with both coasts!
Don’t get it…. My husband and I eagerly ate at this restaurant after reading all the rave reviews. We ordered udon, three hand rolls, and had fishy tasting green tea. Indifferent and rushing sevice surprised and infuriated. Worse though was the sushi, which looked less than fresh, uninspired, and drab on the plate, cheerlessly decorated with a slash of angry looking sauces. The rice was warm and seemed to begin to warm the raw tuna of one roll order, which made me nervous. Ambience was pleasant, with coral tone paint and large elegant looking prints and blonde wood booths. Was disappointed to see that one of the sushi offerings included cheese, and wonder if the problem is that this food is too Americanized, which would explain the heavy handed nature of what should be delicate, subtle, and inspiring with layers of flavor and texture and freshness.
Horrible service. I like the food, but the service is so awful it isn’t worth going. Total waste of money
Meh. The spider roll was small. The unagi was fishy. The maguro was chewy. Not the greatest service I have ever had. The black widow roll was pretty good, although the jalapeos were the mildest I have ever had. I will probably not be back.
