Are you kidding me?. They served me undercooked red chile sauce. The chile powder was gritty! Nothing special, can’t understand why anyone would eat here. It’s too bad because we don’t have many choices for Mexican/New Mexican in Corrales. I guess the only other Mexican alternative is the lady that sells tamales on the side of the road on the north end of town.
Not a good experience. We should have known the fact that there was not one other customer in the restaurant that this was a major red flag. To get to this place we had past some other close by restaurants of Little Anita’s, Flying Star, and Nate and Hannah’s which were are packed with customers. We entered the confusing entrance after trying to figure out where the parking lot was. Food was mediocre but fast, but we were the only ones there. The really bad part was the young disinterested staff. We were the only ones there and nobody ever checked on us. The trio stood around talking like if we didn’t exist. We had to get up to find someone to give us our bill. Then the trio broke up their chat session and scattered. When I handed the brunette my card she shook her head. It was very awkward because she didn’t say anything, and I was unsure of what was going on. Finally she spoke up and stated they only take cash. Mediocre food, blah green chili, and poor service. . . . Never again.
You cannot do better. Primo Carne adovada, outstanding bar and the best host in the world. You feel like family the minute you stumble through the door.
THE BEST! Absolutely authentic New Mexican food! Wonderful locally owned and operated Corrales GEM! Highly recommended! Great service and food! Green chile cheeseburger is best in state, also the green chile stew is perfect!
First & foremost CASH ONLY. Ok, now for the food. I ordered the carne adovada. The red chile was great. The portion size was perfect, not your typical trough sized Mexican/American gastrobomb. My husband ordered the stacked beef enchiladas with an egg over easy & Christmas (wish they had blue corn, can’t win em all). It was deelish. Next time we go we will order the stacked enchiladas with carne adovada. The menu was not very descriptive (i.e. stacked enchiladas…no options were listed like beef, chicken etc.). You are left to ask questions instead of knowing what they have to offer. The tortillas were handmade & authentic. The sopapillas were not bad, more dense than fluffy flakey but still tastey. I was not a fan of the posole, too much oregano for me & not much else. Overall, we would return for the enchilada adovada, which is an option that I was offered after we ate. Oh well, insurance for us to return.
Great, Authentic Lunch!. My wife and I finally made it to Perea’s Tijuana Bar for lunch, and really enjoyed both the food and the authentic atmosphere. I had the tamale plate, and my wife had the carne adovada plate, and they were both great! The portions were large, and well prepared, and spicy! Red or Green chile on the side will be my selection next visit, as I’m a bit of a spice weenie. I wish that they were open weekends and evenings, as this would be a great place to take out-of-town visitors.
Wonderful. From the ambiance to the service to the food – this cannot be topped!
