This is the taste of old, home-made New Mexican food of my childhood. Freshly cooked posole and beans, fresh bright flavors of red and green chile, hand-made pico de gallo with freshly minced garlic. Best authentic New Mexican food!

Different but very good. This is an unusual but special place. Until recently it was run but the parents of the current owner, John. They cook and serve their family food and have been doing this for two generations. One of the parents is still in the kitchen and many in Corrales love their food and are repeat customers for many years. It is out of the main stream, does not behave like most restaurants. Like much in Corrales it is just different. The tamales are very good, the Fritos pie is good, sometimes the enchilada casserole is great and sometimes just good. Their burritos are very good and far better than average. Enchiladas are very good. It is not perfect but is one of the best if measured overall for food service and atmosphere/ambience. I have many guests visit from out of town and they frequently request going to Perea’s. They like it in part because it is different and good. If it is not your style it is understandable because it is so different. The food is old family favorites and everyone may not be impressed by different, so go elsewhere. But if you want authentic, good family food in a traditional funky athmosphere this is the place.
