SERVES TRADITIONAL MEXICAN FOOD….BUT THE PLACE IS A MIXED BAGThis restaurant is rated thirty seven (37) among the Mexican food restaurants in the Las Cruces area for the complete dining experience. It is not a place for everyone. The ambiance in the Burritos Victoria restaurant is casual and the atmosphere is at times hectic. You can order a takeout meal at the counter or sit in the dining area and be waited on. The place generally seems clean but the salsa and condiment bar area sometimes is messy. The waitresses are not real accomplished and sort of just going through the motions. The clientele is heavily Hispanic. The menu is essentially traditional Mexican and the prices very reasonable. This is a favorite among Mexican workingmen for lunch. I doubt they take their wives or girlfriends here when in search of a nice dinner. As far as the food goes: I have never had what I consider a really good meal in this restaurant….and I have dined here about four times. I sampled their GORDITAS HARINA with their thick flour shell. The chile meat inside had a little potato and was fairly tasty, but the gordita harina was a bit underwhelming. I ordered sirloin or carne asada tacos and the plate only came with two tacos. Each taco had a few strips of meat inside….nothing else. I guess they expect you to dress them yourself at the salsa bar?? (Beware if you use the drive up window!!!) I found their salsas high on the heat but somewhat low on flavor. The refried beans I’ve had with a few meals were not so good, barely warm and somewhat stiff. The al pastor tacos, like the carne asada, had nothing but meat in them. The pork al pastor was average in quality. I once had a barbacoa burrito here and it too was just so-so.What to expect if you go: A not so warm and welcoming place, mediocre service, a very casual atmosphere (the place looks nicer from the outside than it is inside), traditional Mexican cuisine, and food quality that is sort of middle of the road.MEXICAN FOOD RATING…….AROUND THIRTY……..SORT OF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE RANGE. Not bad but not real good either….kind of a mixed bag.Restaurant rating……THREE STARS….maybe THREE-AND-A-QUARTER STARS……not thrilling for the overall dining experience. Will I ever return to dine? It could happen. Who knows. But it won’t be often.

Ordered the Relleno Burrito. The burrito itself was very small and the relleno inside had a temperature of lukewarm. The texture of the breading was much to thick for my liking and I really couldn’t tell you that there was any cheese stuffed into the chile itself. All in all, I probably won’t be returning.

Restaurant is an old Jack in the Box and looks it. But service good and food very good. I go drive though usually. Burritos terrific, but surprised to eat in and find full service restaurant inside. Totally coming back and exploring the menu.
