The restaurant is located inside El Encanto hotel. (Which if you have not been there I would definitely recommend it.) It has a very nice ambiance and very well decorated. Mexican theme with lots of wood, tile- of wonderful colors; on the floor, columns, walls, cabinets, etc as well as pottery. Saltillo tile on the floor. All the seating is all traditional; wooden tables and chairs. Traditional Mexican music piped in to add to the ambiance. Its a nice place to have a meal and a drink. That being said it was unfortunate that the meal was not up to par with the its surroundings. We ordered the combo with stuffed Chile rellenos con pollo(Which is grammatically in two languages a redundancy) that came with sides of refried beans and rice, also a shrimp taco plate made with corn tortillas which came with calabacitas con elote-Which are squash and corn mix- also with rice and beans and for dessert we had their fried ice cream. The Chile relleno was nothing more than a regular chili relleno that was split open and then chicken meat in some kind of sauce-which I could not make out-poured into the opening. Not the way a real Mexican chili relleno should be made. Even though the chicken meat had sauce it was quite dry. The rice also was on the dry side. The shrimp taco plate lacked flavor. It was adorned with onion, cabbage, diced tomatoes but for some reason it lacked flavor. You could taste the shrimp but the vegetable blend did not add to it. And even the shrimp was slightly overcooked. The saving grace on this plate was the squash and corn mix which we found a be the most flavorful item on this plate. The rice was somewhat dry. The dessert was very good. We ordered a shot of Kahla to pour over which really enhances the flavor and of course made it much more enjoyable. The service was a little less than adequate. We had to wave down our waitress to get her attention to get refills on drinks and to ask questions about our meal.Would we return to this restaurant? Maybe, but I think we would search out other eateries and restaurants before we would finally decide to come back to this place.

What’s happened to this eatery?. I took the family on a trip from El Paso to Las Cruces just to eat at Garduno’s. Although the ambiance was very nice and the waiters were very corteous, the food left much to desire. The chips were stale, the posole was watered down, the flautas were soggy, and the tamales lacked seasoning. Oh, and the margarita lacked punch! Sorry to say but we have to give this one a thumbs down.

Great Choices Big Portions. Good service and a large menu. The portions are HUGE. You can easily split most of the plates. The wait staff was very friendly and courteous. The atmosphere is nice and they have a huge selection of tequilas. The food didn’t leave me feeling greasy afterwards. I would go again.
