Best Mexican food in Las Cruces! Master chef Felix has prepared a menu that is world class. Yes, it is counter service and it is the best in every categoryThe four of us ordered the spectrum from chicken mole enchiladas, carne asada tacos, chile rellenos and shrimp tacos. We all shared. Some restaurants specialize as does chef Felix with his moles. What is different is all are world classThe restaurant is fun and simple. The staff is friendly and attentive. Chef Felix greeted us and wanted our feedback. Eight thumbs upHealthy Mexican with vegan selections. Really. Feels like Cantina eats like a Michelin ranked fine dining restaurant. Best Mexican food Ive experienced in Las Cruces. Vegan selections make this a special place as its usually difficult finding all veggie dishes other than beans and rice..not here, and the welcome soup is yummy. Beer and wine available. The owner/chef, Felix makes sure you are satisfied. You place your order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table..outside patio available. Small restaurant but you get that personal touch! You wont regret trying Habaneros!

Having learned through agonising trial and error that I can (almost) never tolerate the New Mexican version of ranchera sauce, I thought I’d be safe going with the sour cream chicken enchiladas. My wife asked for the chicken pipian plate. Both were served with a choice of soup or salad; we both chose the salad. I had mine with green chile vinaigrette, which was like no other vinaigrette dressing I’ve ever seen, had or heard of: it was a cream-based dressing, and was quite good. The salad itself, though, was boring as Hell: just lettuce, with a thin sliver of tomato, a bit of red onion, and a few thin tortilla strips. The salad dressing also made a much, much better salsa for the one complementary bowl of chips than the tomato-soup-with-cilantro that was provided. The chips, at least, were very good. The sour cream enchiladas were passable; the quantity was good, the corn tortillas wrapping them were commercially prepared (as were the ones accompanying my wife’s dinner), the sour cream sauce was subtly seasoned with just enough green chiles to give it a slight hue but not enough to give it much of the flavour. The Spanish rice was well-made, and fresh, and plentiful; the ranchero beans were well-made, nicely seasoned, and not plentiful. My wife’s chicken pipian was, you know, kind of all right. The pumpkin seeds gave it a hint of sinus medicine aftertaste. The quality was good but the quantity was unimpressive.THE CURMUDGEON’S RATINGS:FOOD: 2 1/2 chili peppers (out of 5)SERVICE: 3 chili peppersAMBIENCE: 3 chili peppersVALUE: 2 1/2 chili peppers

Unique menu selections, and the selection offers something different you won’t find in every Mexican restaurant in Las Cruces. They have a great selection and great service. We love the new homey location! The red chile meat is delicious!! They have a unique selection of dishes.
