NOT REALLY A RESTAURANT…..IT’S FOR PEOPLE BUYING IN BULKAs a dining spot this place ranks about FIFTY-SEVENTH for Mexican food restaurants around town. Inside there is a counter and four or five hard wooden tables and chairs. The place is not the cleanest or tidiest place in the world and if you go there to dine you may want to consider this. There seems to be a little carelessness here when it comes to tidiness.Food is in warming trays and pre-prepared. On the couple of occasions when I was there the gentleman waiting on customers, probably the owner, spoke Spanish and little English. He did wait on me promptly and was friendly enough. They offered barbacoa, chicharrones, and green and red chile meat. I ordered a red chile con carne burrito. The gentleman whipped it up with some beans on a large and quickly heated tortilla. And, I must say, it was delicious. This was one of the most flavorful and robust burritos I’ve ever eaten. For the price…..it can’t be beat. But if you stop in be advised….selections are very limited and this is not a real comfortable place to dine.MEXICAN FOOD RATING = somewhat high (maybe in the top 30%) but limited optionsRestaurant rating = TWO STARS = meaning, for dining, kind of poor. Most people will not feel comfortable dining here.

NOT REALLY A RESTAURANT…ITS FOR PEOPLE BUYING IN BULK. (This place rates around 56th on the 2017 Mr. Sensitive list of Las Cruces Mexican restaurants) ****2014 update*********I checked in with this place in 2014 to see if anything had changed. It may be under different ownership than when I tried it several years ago. Not certain. The place looked the same….a counter and about four hard wood tables and chairs. The place is not the cleanest or tidiest place around and if you dine there you will want to consider this. There was a plastic container with utensils near the end of the counter. It was not real clean and there were no knives or forks….only a few plastic spoons. THERE SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE CARELESSNESS HERE WHEN IT COMES TO TIDINESS. Give the ambiance a D to a D+ ……..meaning below average to maybe poor for dining. Selections are limited and they are sitting there in warming trays. The food temperature was hot however. The gentleman waiting on customers, probably the owner, spoke Spanish and a little English. It was a little difficult to understand him. All of his customers were speaking Spanish to him. He did wait on me promptly, however, and was friendly enough. Rate the service a B-. O.K. They did not have pork al pastor but they did offer barbacoa, chicharrones, and green and red chile con carne. I opted for a red chile meat burrito. The gentleman whipped it up with some beans on a quickly heated tortilla. And I must say…..IT WAS DELICIOUS! This was one of the most flavorful and robust red chile burritos I have ever eaten. I would rate it an A. This was a great burrito for around $3.00. Robust and bursting with great red chile flavor. But….if you stop in be advised, this is not a real nice place to dine and the selections are limited. Presentation does not exist here….just basic food. I will in 2014 give this place a dining rating. Despite the outstanding burrito I can only give it a TWO STAR rating….meaning BELOW AVERAGE TO POOR for the entire dining experience. The food is not attractive, the place untidy, the selections very limited, there are communication problems if you do not know Spanish, and the service is only over the counter. MOST PEOPLE WILL NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DINING HERE. Not a spot I would recommend. But….for takeout, you might want to try a burrito sometime. BOTTOM LINE: WILL I GO AGAIN? I WOULDN’T BET THE FARM ON IT. NOT A THRILLING PLACE TO SAY THE LEAST. Now for my original review……from a visit I made around 2007. When I visited this place there were only a couple tables inside. This was not really a restaurant, but a shop for people buying Mexican products in bulk. I found the service to be unfriendly…actually the most unfriendly of any place I’ve visited in Las Cruces. The food I tasted was nothing special. It was just o.k. I have never been back and don’t plan to. I will not bother to even give this place a rating.
