SMALL BAKERY WITH A LIMITED SELECTION.Tucked away on Madrid Ave is Leo’s Bakery…..a really small bakery with a very limited selection. The front room with the counters couldn’t have been much more than 12 x 10?? Today when I visited I did not see any cakes or breads in view…..mostly just donuts. They had several varieties of filled donuts, some apple fritters, and a few plain donuts. I asked if they had any eclairs and the woman behind the counter acted as if she didn’t know what I was talking about!!! I settled for an apple fritter and a round donut with pineapple in the center of it. The cost for both was $1.20. These donuts are not overly large and certainly not expensive. The apple fritter was fairly good…..maybe a tad heavy but fairly good. Rate it a B. The pineapple centered cake donut was ok also…..maybe a tad heavy. The pineapple filling at the center was just sort of there….nothing special. Rate this donut a B. At the end of the day we can conclude that Leo’s Bakery is nothing to go out of your way for. It’s best left to the neighborhood crowd and best thought of as a little donut shop with average donuts. Nothing remarkable here. BOTTOM LINE: WILL I RETURN? WHAT FOR?
