OK, IT’S A CHAIN. GET OVER IT. IT IS PRETTY GOOD.Don’t believe anyone who puts McAlister’s down because it is a national chain. I have dined at McAlister’s Delis for many years all over the country and always enjoyed them. Does that make it the world’s greatest deli? Of course not, but it is quite good nonetheless. The physical layout is large, open, well lighted, and clean. The chairs are not the most comfortable but one does not expect to be dining here for an hour or two. This is a nice place for a casual meal. This is not a full serve restaurant. Order at the counter and they bring the food out to your table. I have always found the staff pleasant and efficient. My food has always been delivered to my table within ten minutes……in some cases five or six minutes.McAlister’s features paninis, wraps, subs, muffulettas, and a large variety of salads. Prices are very reasonable.I have sampled their ORANGE CRANBERRY CLUB sandwich on wheat bread. Stuffed with smoked turkey and hickory ham with smoked bacon, cheese and lettuce and finished off with an orange-cranberry sauce…..it was very very good. The bread held up fine and was delicious.I most recently tried their ROAST BEEF FRENCH DIP SANDWICH and found it likewise quite good. The grilled bread was delicious and held up well. There was a large amount of sliced roast beef in there with melted cheese. The roast beef had a nice flavor. This was a filling and very good sandwich. The au jus for dipping however had little flavor and needs some work. Learn to season things guys. For a side I chose the mac-and-cheese which came in a tiny bowl and was not enough to put in your eye so to speak. It was really, really bland. No crumb topping, no salt, no cheese with any flavor. Not good. Would never order the mac-n-cheese again. It was the kind of junk you come to expect in these kinds of places. But, the sandwich was good and the sandwich with mac-n-cheese and a drink plus tax only ran about $12.00. Not bad! What to expect if you go: A clean, attractive, large, open, well lighted restaurant with order at the counter service, an efficient operation, reasonable prices, and a nice selection of very good food. Their salads look really good….I’ll have to try one soon.Restaurant rating = FOUR STARS…….meaning, you’ll have a good overall dining experience.
