AN ABOVE AVERAGE MEXICAN RESTAURANTThe Nopalito Restaurant on Mesquite Street in the historic district is ranked the number 14th best Mexican food restaurant in town for the full dining experience. This places it in the upper 25%.This comfortable restaurant is not far off Amador Ave. The parking is limited and somewhat of a negative. You can park on the side street across Mesquite. Inside, the restaurant is spacious and attractive and pretty well maintained. There are numerous comfortable booths and tables. This is actually one of the more attractive Mexican restaurants around town….nothing too special but kind of nice. The service at Nopalitos I’ve always found to be friendly and efficient. While I would not describe it as elite or professional, it is just fine for a casual restaurant. The menu is essentially New Mex cuisine…..smothered burritos, soft tacos, chimichangas stuffed with red or green chile con carne, tostada compuestas, rellenos, etc. They offer you chips and two versions of salsa. The red salsa is ok but THEY ARE FAMOUS FOR THEIR SALSA VERDE with its large pieces of flavorful green chile. It tends to be a little watery, but the flavor is soooooo good. One down side at Nopalitos is that the food can be a little inconsistent. I have had some mediocre gorditas and chimichangas here, but good smothered burritos and a really good stuffed sopapilla. What to expect if you go: A pleasant and comfortable atmosphere, ok service, moderate pricing, and overall fairly good New Mex cuisine…if a bit inconsistent.MEXICAN FOOD RATING = FIFTEENTH…..BOTTOM OF THE TOP QUARTER or TOP OF THE SECOND QUARTER OF MEXICAN RESTAURANTS. NOT AS GOOD AS FOURTEEN OTHER PLACES BUT BETTER THAN MAYBE FORTY-FIVE OTHERS. .Restaurant rating = THREE-AND-THREE-QUARTER to FOUR STARS….meaning, above average for the full dining experience.

Awesome!. My husband’s favorite restaurant, we always stop whenever were in town. (Several meals actually!) Their food is always good and the green chile sauce can’t be beat.
The food is the best Mexican food I have tried and sopapias as well. I got the number 3 combo and it is by far the best Mexican plate in the southwest. The chile they has to be the best tasting chile ever, I have never tasting anything like it. Best service and food the only downfall is they don’t serve beer but the chile is worth tasting.
