REALLY GOOD BBQRasco’s BBQ is a little restaurant near the Federal Building run by Danny Rascon and his daughter Sam. Inside there are only six or seven tables, a little counter, a small cooler with cans of pop, and a menu board overhead. The tables and chairs are comfortable and roomy and the restaurant is clean. Nothing fancy but fine for a casual meal. Step up to the counter and order and they bring the food out to your table. Paper towels are on each table, but no bottles of sauce. Danny and his daughter are friendly and personable people.Don’t shy away when you see the parking situation around the building as the lot across the side street provides ample free parking. The prices at Rasco’s are not cheap….actually a little expensive.I sampled their PULLED PORK and BRISKET SANDWICHES with pickles and onions and a tangy BBQ sauce. And, I have to tell you folks, those sandwiches were really, really good. The buns were heated on the grill with butter. Their texture, flavor and freshness were great. Outstanding rolls. The pulled pork was served a little cool in the sandwich and it had a fair amount of smoke on it. Danny told me he uses PECAN WOOD. The flavor of the brisket was top notch…..actually outstanding. The BBQ sauce was excellent with just the right amount of tang. THE BRISKET WAS JUICY AND FULL OF FLAVOR with a kiss of smoke. This was one of the best brisket sandwiches I’ve eaten….anywhere. Can’t wait to go back and order more. What to expect if you go: A small, casual little place that is well lighted and clean, friendly service, a representative menu, cans of pop for a dollar, but food that is a little expensive for around here, and REALLY GOOD BBQ….AMONG THE BEST AROUND. Give it a try…..you will not regret it.Restaurant rating = FOUR STARS……meaning very good for the overall dining experience.Bottom line: will I return? Oh, yes…..and often.
