RUBY TUESDAY….SOME SAY IT IS FIVE STAR AND SOME SAY IT IS ONE. WHAT IS ONE TO BELIEVE? IS BALANCE AND COMMON SENSE POSSIBLE AMONG ALL THE AGENDA DRIVEN REVIEWS?Ruby Tuesday has been around for over forty-five years, so somebody must know something. These restaurants are good old American food restaurants serving a wide variety of cuisine. This is a fairly large and roomy restaurant with lots of light and a nice ambiance. They do have many comfortable booths. But, I have to acknowledge that I’ve had varying experiences when in this restaurant. One time the table I was led to by the hostess was set with knives and forks, etc, but it was not clean; food particles from previous diners littered the table. Not good! This kind of carelessness by the staff is inexcusable and a commentary on the local management. On most occasions, however, the restaurant has been clean and tidy. The service is generally pretty good….not outstanding but better than average. I have no complaints. The menu at Ruby Tuesday is broad with a nice balance between pastas, salads, seafood, and carne. Pricing is reasonable. I found their Double Decker Chicken meal to be pretty good. The chicken was moist and juicy. The sweet potato fries were good…..sort of what you might expect. The biscuits brought to the table before the meal were a bit dry and lacking flavor. Mediocre at best. The fixins at the salad bar seemed fresh. A sirloin steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and, while it wasn’t the most flavorful steak, it wasn’t bad for this kind of place. The onion rings were fairly good; not greasy at all. The breaded jumbo shrimp were flavorful and had a nice light crisp coating. The triple prime cheddar burger with green chile was a tad dry, but it was well seasoned and had a nice flavor. The lettuce could have been fresher. All-in-all, a decent burger but not an outstanding one.The verdict on Ruby Tuesday’s food is…fairly good food but not outstanding food. What to expect if you go: Generally, a roomy, clean, and comfortable all-around American food restaurant. A broad menu and service that is above average. The pricing is reasonable and the food quality is above average to good. While it would be difficult to find something outstanding here….I would not hesitate to dine here.Restaurant rating = THREE-AND-THREE-QUARTER to FOUR STARS….meaning, well above average to good for the total dining experience. While this is clearly not a five star restaurant….it is plain craziness to give it one or two stars. That is intellectually dishonest. But, that’s the internet for you!
