Best sushi place in Cruces by far! Competitive prices, high quality fish, beautiful plating and nice atmosphere. Definitely the only place to go for sushi in town now. The service is usually good, sometimes its pretty slammed and slower but the quality of the food doesnt suffer. I recommend the Samurai roll, its

AN ATTRACTIVE RESTAURANT OFFERING A PLEASANT DINING EXPERIENCE…..BUT NOT A LOT OF FOOD FOR YOUR MONEYThe Sakura Japanese Hibachi Grill & Sushi Bar opened in July 2016 where Lorenzo’s used to be near Lohman and Roadrunner. The place was entirely remodeled and it offers a most attractive dining area. It is a bit dark inside but the eyes adjust. There is a small sushi bar and several hibachi grills. Also numerous comfortable booths. The restaurant is clean and well managed, but the servers are not always the most attentive or personable. There have been numerous complaints about the service over the past couple years. When I was there I would say the service was perfunctory and uninterested…but I had no real complaints. The menu and the prices run from reasonable to somewhat expensive. Both sushi and grilled hibachi style food are available.I found their Yaki Soba with chicken to be thin Japanese noodles stir fried in a pan with thinly sliced vegetables and chicken strips. There were not a lot of veggies, nor chicken in the dish…..it was 95% noodles. Food cost must have very low and profit margin high on this dish. But, the dish did have a nice subtle flavor. The meal was good but not anything exceptional. A Crab Meat Tempura Roll was beautifully presented and a good buy for the money. This sushi roll was very good. The little side salad I had with the meal was sort of mediocre. What to expect if you go: A clean, attractive place, service that may be ok but sort of uninterested….less than engaging….prices sort of middle-of-the-road, and food that is generally of good quality but not much for your money. Not comfort food.Overall restaurant rating = FOUR STARS…..meaning, above average to good for the full dining experience. Will I return? I’m sure I will sometime.

Love the sushi and at $5 per roll you can’t beat the price! The salmon was delicious loved the Alaska roll and the seaweed salad. I always appreciate when you get plenty of fish in your sushi and these rolls were pretty fat. The ambience was nice and relaxing as well. I will definitely go back soon and even though I’m mostly a sushi guy I will definitely have to try the hibachi… someday.
