Delicious barbecue, and soul food. Best baby back ribs in town. Also, the pulled pork sandwich is amazing. The cornbread pancakes are a must as well. Also, their potato salad is very nice. The downside is slower service and not exactly the cleanest dining area, but the food is just fantastic.
Good Barbecue!. Nine of us went to Mr. Powdrell’s in 4th Street. for their famous barbecue and we were not disappointed! The restaurant is in an old house, quite homey and old-fashioned, with rustic tables and chairs. I ordered the barbecue pork sandwich with okra and Cole Slaw. It was all very good. Some of my friends had the same thing I did and the others ordered the barbecue pork ribs with sides of potato salad, Cole slaw and okra. We all felt Mr. Powdrell’s Barbecue is about the best in Albuquerque. We recommend it!
Worth driving 800 miles for!. A friend first took me to Powdrell’s on San Pedro back in the 1970s and I’ve been following the family and their great food ever since. I now live in the Copper Canyon region of Chihuahua, Mexico, and Powrell’s is a must-stop place whenever I drive North. I stick to to large brisket sandwich with cole slaw and have never been disappointed. On other travels I used to stop for BBQ but I never found anything to match the wonder of Powdrell’s.The negative reviews puzzled me but I wonder if they could not be because everyone makes the sauce differently and perhaps, for the same reason I do not care for other restaurant’s sauce, people who like sauce elsewhere may not like sauce from Powdrell’s. Anyhow, people, keep up the good/great food, your family traditions and the great hospitality and I’ll keep returning as long as my body stands the trip. After 40 or so years dining with you, I’ve yet to find anything better.
