Shouldn’t a brew pub serve its own beer?. I have tried this place 5 or 6 times now. I want to like it because it’s close to my house, but I just can’t. They claim they’re a brew pub, but they’ve only had the beer they brew one time in all my visits. Not having their own beer when they first opened is excusable, but it’s absurd at this point. The pizza is terrible. I’ve bought frozen pizza at the grocery store that tastes better than what they serve. With Turtle Mountain just a short drive away, serving their own beer and fantastic menu, I’m done giving the Blue Grasshopper second chances.
Great Local Brew Pub with Delicious Wood-Fired Pizza. The Blue Grasshopper Brew Pub in Rio Rancho, New Mexico is a new, local establishment offering many New Mexico craft beers, including their own by brewmaster Peter Apers who was born into a brewing family in Belgium. The other owner, Greg Nielsen, is a friendly, professional man who makes you feel welcome the minute you walk in. The decor is brew pub chic, but is very comfortable in its muted colors. The wood-fired pizzas are delicious. I highly recommend the Area 51 pizza. The green chile is all New Mexico grown Hatch green chile. Live music is provided Tuesday through Saturday nights. A good place for family and friends to gather.
