Nice atmosphere and a very broad selection on the buffet. The curried chicken was delicious. I had no complaints. It is one of the few places that stay open until 9 pm in Los Alamos

Always disapointed in the Buffet. Every time I have gone China Moon I have been disappointed in the Buffet. There is never enough food out and many trays will be left empty for all of lunch. The food also will have a random bitterness when it shouldn’t. Paying about $8 for lunch and more for dinner at this quality is not ok. This is an case of an establichment that gets away with poor food and service because it is in Los Alamos. They have potential, they just are not trying
A decent Chinese buffet…. 3 Stars – China Moon is located in Downtown Los Alamos in a strip mall, at the intersection of Central Avenue and 15th Street. Inside the doors, the decor is your typical chinese-american diner. They may have a full order menu, I don’t know. But they sat me down and offered me the lunch buffet on my visit. Which I took them up on. They have three buffet tables with a very good selection. In fact it’s the best selection I’ve seen in a while at a Chinese buffet. They had some of my favorite items, like General’s Chicken, Pepper Beef, Broccoli and Beef, Lemon Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken and many more. Food quality was fair to very good, depending on the item and it’s freshness. I thought the fried rice was good, but the lo mein was overcooked and too old. They also have a good selection of desserts, pastries and cookies to finish up your meal. Not award winning cuisine by any stretch, but for the price it was an excellent value. At review time it was $7.95 for lunch buffet and $8.95 for dinner buffet.
