Teofilos is good. The best thing it has going for it is the beautiful house. Next is the New Mexican food. The food is good, though there are better places throughout the state. The service is ok. In all honesty, they don’t capitalize on the beautiful venue and fascinating history. It is certainly above mediocre, but not far enough from it. Very homely and welcoming, it is a warm and comfortable environment. Improvements on ambience, presentation, and service would do them well!

Yummy!. Came inside and the hostess had her back to the door, instead of turning around to greet us, she talked over her shoulder. Being the first person to see, isn’t a good impression. She was a bit dry and seemed extremely bored with her job, which made me feel unwelcome. We sat by the wall of windows facing Main Street but the entire room was slanted and made me feel little unsafe. We were approached by our server Ritha, who was very warm and welcoming. She told me about the different types of chili and she was very informative. They offer a total of four types of chili, two made with meat; red and green, and 2 vegetarian chilies. I ordered them all, my favorite had to be the vegetarian green chili with mushrooms, it was delicious and perfectly spicy. The salsa had plenty of texture and I could tell it was homemade. I prefer mine a little spicier, but that is just personal preference. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas and the chicken was moist and full of flavor, the rice was tender and authentic, the beans were perfect, I loved it all! Ritha was a great and observant waitress whom was very nice. Without her, I do not know if I would feel the same way about this restaurant. She made up for the lack of service the hostess had not given me. Pros: Food, chili,Ice Tea, waitressCons: Rude hostess

Best chile rellenos in the state by far, great breading, no heavy batter like other places

Soft Drink Refills. Have always loved the food here but if they insist on charging for each soda refill then I will insist on eating at another restaurant that does not charge for their refills. So long ):

Food is nasty. Canned beans, unclebens rice, salsa is nothing but crushed tomato. Authentic: I think not.

Penny pinching …. quality down.. Been going there since it opened years ago. Used to be the best Mexican food around. But now they are penny pinching so much that quality is clearly effected. Hardly any chile is poured on the enchilladas and the last time we ate there, there was no chile in the salsa. The wine margaritas are watered down and the meals are much smaller. Now we travel up to Albuquerque to Sadies where the quality and quantity is consistent. So sad.
