Went here for dinner with friends for my 70th birthday. It was a lovely evening so we ate outside. the atmosphere was nice. The hostess greeted me with Happy Birthday and my menu had happy 70th printed on it. I had a glass of wine $14–it was good. I ordered the mushroom entree $22. It was good but was smaller than an average appetizer. The waitress asked if we wanted sparkling water or plan–we had the sparkling water (no mention of charge) $9. I thought oh well I was still starving but they will probably offer a birthday dessert–nothing. $50 later I went home and had dinner.
Conceptually I like everything about Los Poblanos Inn – fresh produce, quiant atmosphere, and relaxing pace. But the execution fails. The menu is too limited and lacks imagination. While the produce is clearly fresh, the protein sourcing is abysmal. One evening I ordered the duck – tough as leather. Another evening I ordered the short rib – full of fat, over cooked, and stringy. Bottom line: beautiful setting; food is lacking. Go for a glass of wine to enjoy the setting, and go elsewhere for dinner.
Yum! But don’t expect to know what you are eating!. I went with my parents while they were in town visiting. I had never eaten dinner here before but I had been to the farm shop and had the delicious lavender gelato there (highly recommend it!). My dad had a pasta dish, I had the beet soup and the field plate, and my mom had some kind of salad. We all were very happy. However, the field plate is actually a stuffed baked potato. Confused? I was too. I thought it was going to be a few different items on a plate. But it was delicious. Just make sure you get plenty of clarification from the waitress on what you are actually ordering. The staff was beyond pleasant (our server was Jess) and really contributed to the beautiful environment. Say hello to the white peacock while you are there if you eat on the patio. She likes to make her appearance there.
A Fabulous Experience. I had a great time at Los Poblanos! I went to the New Year’s Eve event. Twelve wonderful courses of Spanish themed food with an intermission at which there was an amazing Flamenco show. The wine was perfectly parred. My favorite part of the entire evening was how well I was treated. The staff working seemed to really enjoy their jobs and it was reflected in their service. I can’t wait to return!
