Most under appreciated restaurant in Las Cruces/Mesilla. Great food, lots of flavor, very reasonable pricing, and nice atmosphere.

Lunch for two. My son and I have eaten there a couple of times and have always been more than pleased with the service, the food and the prices. the server is very friendly without talking you to death, the food was brought out promptly and was hot and delicious. they kept our drinks refilled without having to ask. the food was extremely good. not your usual Mexican faire. it’s definitely ‘different’ but in the best way.we will definitely frequent this establishment.13 Aug, 2014Chiles En Nogada. It sounded like nothing I’ve ever tried and frankly I didn’t know what to expect…but it was DELICIOUS! large portions and excellent taste.

I had the fettuccine with grilled chicken in a poblano white sauce. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. It didn’t taste like generic pasta, really flavorful, though I could have done with more spice. Highly recommend it.

Lunch party. We out to Paisano Cafe as a large group for lunch. Menu has a lot of choices on it. Decided to be brave and went with the Chiles en Nogada which is a poblano pepper stuffed with ground beef, raisins, pineapple and jicama (?). It is supposed to come with a sweet cheesy sauce on top with pomegranate seeds, but I asked for that on the side. It took a while for everyone to get their food. My guess was that there was limited help in the kitchen since the place wasn’t really busy. My poblano peppers were amazing! Did not care for the sauce. It seems like the others really enjoyed their food. However, I must point out there was a bit of awkwardness experienced. One girl had part of a wrapper in her enchilada plate. Another girl had a piece of glass or hard plastic in her drink. -_- Yea… Anyway, moving on to dessert. Everyone ordered an assortment of sweets, from cakes to cheesecake, which all looked delicious. I unfortunately ordered the flan which was kind of gross and tasted like they made it out of a box mix. Not sure if I would go back, but then again maybe I would just for the peppers.

Just a mile south of I-10 and so worth the short drive! Heavenly Veg Lasagna portion or pecan crusted chicken salad & many others (lunch portions). Worth skipping the Cracker Barrel this stop!

Cuisine from Mexico City. If you’re looking for Tex Mex move on down the road. The place is nice but easy to miss due to highway proximty. These folks are from Mexico City and make incredible moles. I had a delicious dinner for around 30 bucks. Service was great!

Used to be so good. My husband and had dinner at Paisano’s several times in 2012, the last time in September. We loved it! So when out of town friends visited, it was the obvious choice for a place to take them. We did so last night. What a disappointment. I had to apologize to our friends. The live music is gone. Almost no one was in the restaurant. One friend ordered a glass of Gewrztraminer. The waitress brought her a glass of Chardonnay. When the friend questioned the wine, she was shown a bottle of Gewrztraminer, but no proof that her wine came out of that bottle. My husband ordered Enchiladas with Mole sauce, his favorite at Paisano’s. The Enchiladas weren’t at all like they used to be. He said it seemed as if they’d been fried. My meal of Paisano Shrimp was very good. When dessert time came, I asked for one cake on the list. The waitress went away and came back saying it was out. I asked for another cake on the list. Same thing happened. She suggested one that wasn’t on the list. It was very good. My husband ordered crepes. The waitress, again, went away and came back. They were out of crepes. So my husband, and one of our friends, ordered Flan. They only had one Flan left, so my husband ended up getting the same cake I got. We were never asked if we wanted coffee or tea. There are several other upscale restaurants in town now. I think we’ll try them before considering a return to Paisano’s.
