Okazuri Japanese Sushi Restaurant in Las Cruces is really good. We had such a good meal. What Okazuri in Las Cruces is famous for is the mix of Japanese and Mexican cuisine. They have menu items that you would not find at any Japanese place in Las Cruces. Make sure you ask your server for some suggestions. They have spicy and non spicy food and sushi is fantastic. Thanks for a great meal.

Poor service. I have been coming for a while and service has been great but for the past week it been the worse the friendly service is gone looks like all the employee s are miserable to be there.

Food is decent, no complaints there. It’s the service that kills me. Slow as heck!! Server talks to the sushi guy instead of checking on customers or disappears in the back for long periods of time. There are only two other customers beside myself so no excuses. This is the third time i come, service hasn’t changed.

Great Service but terrible food. This place has a lot of potential, the service was great and we were sat immediately. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is clean. If it would have been warmer we probably would have sat in their little outdoor seating area. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to serve us.But the food tipped the scale.I ordered some Nigiri sushi, and a combo teriyaki, my wife ordered 2 rolls, my brother ordered the teppanyaki and a squid salad. The teriyaki has a very poor taste, the steak and chicken were little cubes that were way overcooked and chewy, you can really tell its low quality meat. The majority of the plate was bell peppers and red cabbage that was not fresh. The sauce was abysmal, it did not have the characteristic strong/sweet flavor from the soy, sake, honey that makes up traditional teriyaki sauce, this sauce tasted like garlic and canned pineapples and was overly sweet. The teriyaki plate came with rice that has sesame seeds, the rice had a shell of dry/overcooked rice. Once through that shell the rice wasnt bad.The nigiri sushi also had a poor flavor, the eel was not cooked properly and came to us cold, the rice on all the nigiri was too mushy and wet. Usually on nigiri sushi its a small bed of rice with something on top, ours looked like a giant ball of rice with a tiny bit of seafood on top.The teppanyaki was ok, nothing great, and the squid salad was good. All of the rolls were americanized cream cheese or deep fried type rolls. Some were better, some were very bad.The prices are uncharacteristically low for a sushi bar, which is great for a place across from a university. However I think that this place offers no bang for the buck.Like I said, this place has a lot of potential to be a hip sushi hangout, but the food has to live up to the rest that this place has to offer.Hopefully they realize this and improve and it doesnt become yet another empty Las Cruces stripmall space.

We ended up here by happenstance; we originally were at Japanese Kitchen but the service was so terrible we got up and left and drove to Okazuri. The service here was fantastic even though they were packed. The server gave great suggestions and the rolls were fresh and tasty. The menu and atmosphere reminds me of those great little Asian restaurants in the upscale suburb strip malls back east. That’s a good thing!)

Great Food everytime & Service 2 match. We have been going to Okazuri since it opened; no their aren’t usually any boats floating but the menu is diverse, the selections plentiful, the service is usually supreme and the calimari is always a great treat. We enjoy sharing some of the meals and then exploring a dish or two. Sushi is fresh and tasty, the variety is excellent . Its a great place to unwind, have a relaxing and tasty dinner and if want a little romance it lends itself to that as well! Students should enjoy the prices which are very reasonable for great food.
