Annapurnas is a horrible establishment, rude manager and staff what more should I say. I went to the location on Silver in Albuquerque and was met with the most unfriendly staff and manager right off the bat.Don’t ask them questions about the food, they don’t like it, good grief!I wound up walking out after taking 2 bites of the Saag Paneer, the second bite was me trying to give it a chance without gagging. I could barely handle the bad attitudes and negative atmosphere but the food finished me off. Annapurnas you are permanently black listed. Bwahahahah This place is way to expensive for what you get, and I just seriously cant believe the way theytreated mewhen I asked questions about the food, I have dietary restrictions and need to know what’s in my food. thanks for your upstanding customer service, sarcasm.
Nice for the right occashon. First off as a carnivore ill say this is not the best place, but i do like it. The atmosphere is nice but be sure to go at a non busy time because if not its rather loud but there is a lovely patio area thats off to the side that can be missed if you don’t know about it if the wether is ok that is very pleasant . As more of a meat eater it can be harder to find something good at a vegan oriented place but Iv always enjoyed there sambhar and masala fries. There a bit pricy but there awesome as a coffee date sort of place due to there wide verity of teas and other drinks, also there one of the only places that offers agave as a sweetener. so if your just out to try a drink with someone and alcohol is not in the mood or an option this place is rather nice. the chi tea is yumm and depending on the time of year have specially drinks that are usually quite good.
PROS: Delicious fresh food without all the sodium. I read in the newspaper that they grow and grind their own spices!! The Sweet potato Shepard pie is incredible! The flavored teas are delightful! Healthy options that are satisfying. Pleasing decor.CONS: Prices are much too high.
Tasteless and overpriced.. I want to like it, as i am vegan…but alas, i much rather have food at any of the other vegan restaurants in town. (three more just down the street).
Yummy veggie breakfast on the patio. Chai and kitchari were good! Nice gluten free options, as well!
The Good, the Bad, and the Bonus. UPDATE: The service has gotten a lot better than my first time at Annapurna (which was pretty bad).THE FLAVOR – Not rich like Indian restaurants that I’m used to in Los Angeles; I have ordered the NORTH INDIAN SAMPLER, SOUTH INDIAN SAMPLER, and Veggie Burger with soup of the day CARROT something. My friend always gets the Malaysian Stir Fry.The Carrot Soup was the highlight of the meal; creamy and spiced perfectly. The Malaysian Stir Fry reminds me of my mom’s (who is a vegetarian gourmet). In fact, it was almost exactly like my mom’s, thumbs up here. The Sampler:The Saag Paneer was the most disappointing part of the meal, flavor-wise. It was probably the most bland Saag Paneer I’ve ever had.The Mataar Paneer was also pretty low in flavor.Vegetable #2 was something Tomato-based and wasn’t too bad.The food is organic, fresh and all that good stuff. They took some getting used to flavor-wise for me.The Chai is pretty awesome and they have the option of soy milk or regular milk.THE BIG BONUS: AYURVEDICThis may have made the meal worth the high prices. I won’t go into detail but I’ve had certain digestive issues that have lasted me over a month. Annapurna’s food seems to have at least temporarily improved the condition to better than it has been in over a month. There are certain foods that I will credit with magically fixing digestive ailments. Papaya and Beets top that list. I may be adding Annapurna to this list. It is too bad I can’t afford to eat here every day.
Yummy. Im not vegan but I have had several great experiences with Annapurna’s. The vegan carrot cake is delicious and I would highly recommend the tofu scramble, and any of the sandwiches or wraps. Also, the soy chai is amazing! The only disappointment is the slow service. One morning I waited nearly 45mins for my order.
