Love this super restaurant. Not only is there parking (in Nob Hill!!) but you can grab a beer and some fortune cookies on your way in to the main dining room. Lots of windows, hardwood floors, booths, AND wonderful. imaginative dishes! Coffee Chicken might not be for purists but it’s one of the best dishes cross-cuisines I’ve ever tasted. Moderately priced and friendly service. Everything an outstanding restaurant should be.
A fan for Fan Tang. As a general rule, when Im really, really, hungry I never try somewhere new to me, to eat, just in case the new place is bad. Well I went against my general rule and decided to try a new, to me, place. I found myself really, really, hungry at Fan Tang, a little Chinese food room at the corner of Carlisle Boulevard and Central Avenue in Albuquerque. As I looked at the menu, I kept thinking of the term KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). In other words dont over do it just make it good. I wondered if what I would order would be simply good. I was not just impressed but happily satisfied. Jason has done it again. My food was simply delicious, simply delivered, with great service and simply eaten in a great atmosphere. The food was balanced and fresh with great taste and flavors, without a hint of cooking oil, making the dishes come alive with both aroma and taste. Fan Tang is on the Albuquerque food scene. So remember, when you want Chinese cuisine that keeps it simple and feeds you well, check the place out and be satisfied. Eric N.
Meh….not great. The food is ok, not really worth the trip. It was edible, but what I tried did make my tastbuds sing.
Fab service and delicious food!
Not Fantastic. I visited on a Tuesday afternoon when it was not busy. I found the staff friendly. Good, but not great. The atmosphere is like a its trying to feel like a chain, a diner, and hip college spot all at the same time. Unsuccessfully in my opinion. It was a bit awkward. My appetizer was the calamari plate. Pretty good and somewhat unique recipe with grilled red and green peppers, onions and red chile on a bed of chopped lettuce. More like a salad. The main dish was the basil chicken and rice. This was disappointing. While the chicken was cooked well the rest of it was rather a mess. The flavor was very unbalanced, with some bites tasting like raw ginger. The rest of too much sodium. The sauce was a bit too heavy, and the were heavy handed in plating the sauce. The chicken and mushrooms were swimming in it so deep no amount of rice could soak it all All in all the experience was not terrible, but probably not good enough to bring me back a second time
I’ve stopped in here a few times, the atmosphere is nice – casual and inviting. The staff was very friendly and their food is great and reasonably priced. Their coffee chicken is delicious and the orange chicken I tried today was great as well, definitely would recommend for a good meal in the nob hill area.
