Looking for an old fashioned diner? Though there are many options for newly built places made to look like 1950s diners, there’s something to be said about the real thing. Hurricanes looks like a car hop, but don’t let that fool you. Behind those car hop stations sits the real deal. Today we had a chocolate malt (made with hard packed ice cream) and a cheeseburger. Both great. The crunchy layer of lettuce and tomato on it and the just right bun really screamed wow. Other days I’ve had traditional diner breakfasts and NM dishes. All great.
One of my favorites. Yummy!!! This was one of the first places I went whenever I moved to ABQ. It is also crowded, but you never have to wait (if you do it is no more than 5-10 min). It is seat yourself. Great prices and food- I always get the biscuits and gravy or the breakfast sandwich, and my husband always gets the hurricane burger with fries (yes for breakfast). It really is just a great place that we will always consider a staple of ABQ.
This place is awesome. It’s also cheaper than most other places in town. The burrito supreme smothered in green chili is a huge meal.
Monster Chorizo Burrito. Massive $3.79 egg and chorizo burrito, oh yes please. Smother it in red sauce and cheese for an extra $1.05, definitely. In addition to the delicious burrito, the service was so fast that I had coffee on the table in under a minute. I could also imagine this place being a wondrous cure for a hangover.
Huevos rancheros that is all I have to say. I moved away and just got back and the second place I went was here to get bad coffee and awesome food (sadie’s was first).
Disaster Burrito is aptly named. Good spicy burrito hidden completely under curly fries and sauce. A full portion would feed six people no problem. Filling if not flavorful.
Twice a week!. Yes, twice a week I eat breakfast at Hurrucanes. I could not cook a portion that large at home for the price they charge. And the food is just great! Try the Fajita burrito smothered green!
