Food is always great as well as the wine, and the staff is always approachable and friendly! Prices are a little high, but the atmosphere makes it worth it!

The first team we went to Matanza was decent. Taco flight and beer and we left feeling alright about it. The second time was much different. Food was horrible. Calabasitas tasted and looked old, tacos were poorly made, fajitas barely had any steak (surf n turf), salsa tasted like tomato sauce, guac was pretty much avocado with a ton of lime. And WAY overpriced for the quality. The only good thing was the stuff not made there: the beer.

Really sweet spot. Beer selection great! I ordered the huevos which come semi deconstructed. A disappointment since one the best things about the dish is it’s construction-designed to make the perfect egg bean potatoe bite. I’d redesign the dish.

We had a great experience here last night. We ordered the Trifecta (guac, queso, and salsa), the Caesor Limon, and the Black and Blue Tacos. Everything was absolutely delicious. The portions are very generous. The beer selection is impressive. Very friendly wait staff – our server was knowledgeable and attentive. Matanza is a great addition to Nob Hill – we will definitely be going back.

This place is so cool. 100 local craft brews behind the bar with new seasonal selections all the time. And the food is New Mex legit. Good hot chile, great apps to drink beer with, and the atmosphere rocks! The first time I ate at Matanza I had the Jemez chicken enchiladas–so good. My girlfriend had one of the sandwiches, it was called Havana because it’s their take on a Cubano. Excellent.Last time I was there, I had one of the flatbread pizzas with bacon–another winner. Seems like you just can’t go wrong. Want to go for weekend brunch next time…

Great food and amazing local brew selection. Highly recommended but be ready for a bit of a loud atmosphere but it’s definitely not a deal breaker. Oh and upgrading to the Kobe beef on the burger is totally worth it. Edit: Matanza will no longer be receiving my business, while I give credit for their well made food, their service, kitchen times and flagrant disregard for basic health regulations was deplorable, which I wouldn’t have minded as much if the server and manager on duty had addressed the issue when we brought it to their attention. The manager not caring was the worst part. 45 minutes plus for our meal and our server had her money book shoved down the back of her pants, unacceptable!

The decor and service was amazing! The food, though, was underwhelming. I love the concept, location, and atmosphere and would love to see this restaurant go far but the food just didnt deliver. 🙁
