Friendly small town feel. Sweet and subtle atmosphere inside and peaceful patio outside! Added bonus some of the most delightful and delicious coffee around!
Excellent coffee.. EDIT (2012): Finally made it back, and I’m glad that I did. I appreciate the breadth of Michael Thomas’ selection and that they actually roast their beans in different ways to reflect the origin and flavor of the bean. I’ve had their coffee for two weekends now (I generally don’t brew at home during the week) and the beans are the tastiest I’ve had since arriving in ABQ 18 months ago.Leaving the original review because I do think businesses need to be convenient if they want to survive, but now that I’ve had their coffee, I can live with some inconvenience in the name of quality.ORIGINAL (2011): Closed for over a week for some reason. Maybe I’m a snob, but I don’t get how businesses in ABQ can close for a week or more at a time and expect to stay in business. It takes me enough energy to bother to visit that if I do, and it’s closed, it’s unlikely I’ll try again. A shame, because I could use some good artisan roast coffee beans.
Love it :). It’s quaint and perfect! Tucked away, but close enough to everything. The coffee is delicious and the creations are magical! Try the Tony (caramel mocha) or the Hula Mocha (coconut mocha)! Burritos, sandwiches and pastries are all delicious!
Food please.. Love your coffee, but please, serve a sandwich or don’t serve a sandwich. That microwave stuff you all offer has got to go.
Great Roasts. Their beans are some of the best i’ve purchased, too bad the barista murdered them when I ordered an espresso. Underextracted and burnt was the definite tone of this shot, very bitter, black in color and lacking in the crema department. When I took the beans home though and used them on my Nuova Simonelli, the results were awesome.
Expectations. This is a good place. A really cool space with some character. Freshly roasted beans. Good equipment. You get a lot of points for using freshly roasted, high quality beans. This shop roasts their own, and does a pretty good job. This is a nice place, but it is not a third wave shop. Espresso was very reasonably priced at $1.70, served in a smallish demitasse, underextracted and pulled at way too high a temperature resulting in a bitter, though fairly visually appealing shot. Like I said, its a cool space, though, and I’d come back.
