I got booted and WAS parking there to eat at Perico’s!. Yes, this is a SCAM. I was going to get my usual treat of a six pack of beef tacos. The Perico’s lot was full, so I parked in the side lot for Times Square Deli. Perico’s was busy. As I parked I saw a party of 4 walk in as well as 2 guys with a bicycle walk in. It’s a tiny place. So I decided to kill a little time to let the line go down. I walked over to Times Square Deli to have a look inside, I looked in the window and open door, I never even walked in. I walked back to Perico’s maybe 2 minutes later, at the most. My car was booted BY PERICO’s. No amount of explaining that I parked to get taco’s helped. I left forking over $60 cash with no tacos. I will NOT be patronizing this establishment again. Right next to my car was a whole family in the same predicament; they were meeting their son (a UNM student) to eat, they walked over to a shop in shopping center to tell their son they were there and ready to eat. When they walked back to Perico’s with their son to eat a minute later their car was booted. Same story as mine, they paid the extortion fee and left. Maybe they make more money off booting cars than selling food? They just lost a regular customer of 15 years.
This place is a scam to rob you of $60 CASH!. I am one of many suckers that got caught up in their parking lot scam. I parked in what I thought was the community parking lot for the shopping complex. I went into a nearby store and there was a sign that said, if you park near Perico’s you will get booted and have to pay $60. I immediately went outside to move my car and it was already booted, less than one minute passed. The guy at Perico’s was waiting for me and was extremely belligerent and demanded $60 CASH. I called the Albuquerque Police. They were zero help and said that it was legal. I said, so I should pay the $60 extortion fee, and the Police said yes. I was appalled. I had to pay this threatening person $60 after he informed in an angry manner where the ATM machine was. I paid him and he told me his canned spew that it would not be recorded with the Police or not go on my insurance record. People in the parking lot said it was a scam and that their food was horrid. Don’t even think about eating there. You can buy many and much better tacos for $60 elsewhere. Pass the word, it is a total scam.
MEDIOCRE FOOD, most food trucks are much much better. ambiance is depressing. Eating area is not clean. Staff act like it bothers them to take your order or serve you.
Disgusting establishment and shady business practices. Stopped here on the recommendation of a friend for the highly rated tacos, and couldn’t be more disappointed. Turns out this is more of a dumpster than a hole in the wall. The restaurant was absolutely filthy. I grabbed a few tacos to take back to work and walked across the street to meet a friend who had gone to a different place to get his lunch. I come back to find my car booted in the 10 minutes I was gone. On top of that, the tacos were extremely greasy. I won’t ever eat here again.
This place has customer service but I went ahead and got food there based on reviews. I travel throughout and first burrito bite almost had me throwing up disgusting all I can say. Do not support this establishment at least taco bell tries they dont care
Parking scam. There’s a parking scam here. It is a complete rip off – tiny sign on the wall adjacent where you park. If you don’t see It and go someplace else, they boot your car. Then some burly guy comes out and demands $60 from you. it’s not a restaurant; it’s a crime.
Extortion. I frequented this place for the last four years. I have zero good to say about the service but honestly, the food makes it worth it absolutely. I go there about twice a week, today, I parked there where I usually park though this time I had an order from a business ten feet away, I picked it up and in the time I walked in and paid my truck was booted by their spotter inside. Never eating here again, period.30 Jul, 2013Good Food Terrible Service. I have been/was a patron of perico’s for the last 3 or so years. I actually really like the food there. It’s just the service that is awful. I work at a nearby business and call in food there regularly for breakfast during our prep period. Often times they tell me about ten minutes for my burrito order and i’ll arrive after 15. Even with the 5 minute buffer it usually takes them an additional ten minutes. The majority of the time they tell me they haven’t started my order upon arrival. The other major issue I have is the parking lot extortion. I parked there to grab a drink quickly from a neighboring business, literally 10 feet away and was booted and charged $60 in the time it took me to purchase a Gatorade and walk back to my car. Yes, I know i didn’t park for Perico’s but this booting business is a scam flat out. Needless to say, i’ll never again patronize this business again.
