Pretty dreadful experience. Waited an hour for appetizers (fried alligator and hush puppies). Main course came out about 2 minutes after appetizers were served. Everything was dry and under-seasoned. Completely not worth the money, or the time. I’m talking Popeye’s level shit. Very inattentive wait staff. We were served by 3 different people and every one of them seemed disinterested. At least the beer was cold…

Excellent. This restaurant consistently impresses me with its food and service. The fried catfish is delicious with a nice thin and crispy crust. I also recommend the beef tenderloin and shrimp specialty dinner served over steamed vegetables with the Cajun sauce. The salad is also quite good with either almond vinaigrette or Cajun ranch dressing.
I’ve been eating here for at least 16 years and I have only ever had great service and great food. Nick really knows what he’s doing. I even have them do my holiday turkeys. One piece of advice… Stick to the original dishes… Pick a pasta or rice (ngel hair is my favorite) and a protein… Then the sauce and heat level. Cajun is the one that put them on the map.
Not good. I am in Albuquerque visiting my son and his family and they love the cat fish at this restaurant. So I said I would take them there. I am not a huge fish lover but I do love shrimp so I thought i would be able to find a good shrimp dinner. I am from California and I know it is not always wise to eat fish when you are visiting a place so far from the ocean. But shrimp is usually good and because I buy it frozen all the time I think that they can buy it frozen also in inland states. Well i ordered the shrimp with a mild rather that spicy Thai peanut sauce It was the oddest tasting peanut sauce that i have ever tasted and it was very spicy. I could not tell if the shrimp was bad or that the sauce made it taste old. I am not a very picky eater and am usually happy with meals I get at any restaurant but this was probably the worst tasting meal i have ever experienced. I finally ordered a side order of rice and just put butter on it. I was not comfortable asking for a new meal as I was worried they might spit in it. The salad was good.
Horrible food and the service was worse. Don’t expect to get your food in a timely manner or for it to arrive hot.
Cozy and Comfortable. A few friends and I enjoy going to Ragin’ Shrimp once a month on a Friday night for a girl’s night. We love the cozy and comfortable feeling the restaurant has but is still sophisticated and mature. The food is delicious! I always get the same thing (shrimp over rice with hot Jamaican sauce) because it is always done so well. Some of my friends aren’t seafood people but Ragin’ has a variety of food to fulfill everyone needs. The staff is always so pleasant and greets us all with a sincere smile.
