I had the chicken tika platter, tea and an order of dolmas, and of course, hummus. Sadly, I was disappointed. The food took forever to make, but it could have been overcooked because the employees were not paying attention. The guy at the counter wasn’t doing any cooking, but was on his Iphone a lot!. The chicken tika was good, just really dry. The tea was nothing to talk about. The dolmas were great, but premade and canned. You’d think the hummus would be a no-brainer, but it was missing something, maybe the garlic. And the flat bread felt like it was a week old. The restaurant looked clean at least, but has stereotypical images of Middle Eastern people. A camel, and a belly dancer painted on the walls, really? There are so many more options in town for Middle Eastern food, I won’t be coming back!!!

I’ve come to Sahara twice in the past two weeks. Both times a really gregarious and helpful guy at the counter took my order. The guy’s a winner. The lamb skewers are delicious. They come with large, juicy cubes of lamb meat and crisp, sliced onions that have good flavor and texture although the edges are a bit charred sometimes. The hummus is good. It’s creamy if you’re into that. I’d prefer something a little more chunky, but I think that’s more of a personal preference than a problem with Sahara’s hummus. Some of the best falafel I’ve eaten. The flavor is tremendous, but the falafel is still a bit dry. It’s still worth going just for the hummus alone. It comes with a sauce that helps neutralize the dryness.Stuffed grape leaves are quite nice, but very sour.I also had a beef and lamb shawarma. Again, the meat is great and the rest is mixed. There’s nothingtremendous about the pita, and the wrap includes some very sour pickles that, to my tastes, do more harm than good. I’d absolutely get this again, but I’d request that they leave the pickles off.
