Love this Place. This is an excellent neighborhood restaurant with very friendly service. I get takeout from here at least one time per week. The curry dishes are amazing! This a wonderful local business and I recommend supporting them.
Excellent vegetarian weekday lunch. Two friends and I very often go to Salathai for weekday lunch. Vegetarian entrees very nice. I like my food spicy but not so hotit burns me and ask for the food to be 4.5 hot (5 is hottest). Weekday kuncheon includes two tasty small spring rolls and very small tofu soup. Delicious tapioca served after entree for dessert. Service has always been very helpful and pleasant. Highly recommend Saladthai for weekday lunch!
If you can’t afford to keep up with the ingredients that you have on the menu, change the menu. I was really looking forward to trying Salathai due to all the positive reviews. I have been sadly dissapointed. We were passing through and got food for the road. I had asked for extra basil, lime & fish sauce (most Thai placed are sensitive to our taste buds and are light with it). They could not provide the basil because they were running low for the week. My Druken noodles had soiled/rancid pork, no tomatoes and little depth of flavor. The Phad Thai was again lacking flavor. They both had spice but only that of hot chili oil. The Panang Curry had a few slices of yellow pepper, MAYBE 5 pieces of mushroom, about 3 basil leaves, copious amounts of bamboo shoots and no lime leaf. Did I mention there was A LOT of bamboo shoot? The Panang Curry was supposed to be sweet red pepper, mushroom, lime leaf and basil. It was very watery and not creamy nor have any thickness to it. It did have a good flavor, sweet and little spicy. I will seek out other Thai places. I will not go back to Salathai. If I had not stopped for take out on our way through town, we did not start eating until we were outside of the city, I would have brought it all back. Sorry, Salathai you did not get a chance to fix it. But, it really should be right the 1st time.
Great Food If You’re Patient. Everything I’ve ever eaten here has been phenomenal… but there’s a catch. Dining in or taken out, I have never received my food in a timely manner. Once, I was told 45 minutes over the phone, and then made to wait ANOTHER 45 minutes after I arrived at the restaurant to pick my food up (I was not early). To be fair, the extra time results in fantastic food, but I only go here when I have an entire evening to spare. If you can make time, try the curry!
Excellent, but skimpy. Wonderful Pad Thai with shrimp, but then can you call yourself a Thai restaurant without that component? Good service both times I’ve eaten there and the price is right in the ballpark for good Thai food. My only complaint is advertising items you don’t actually have. There was a sign on the wall for sticky rice & mango and I was told that they don’t currently have it. Please, just take it down if it’s not available. Other than that…great Thai restaurant.
Great place for good food. Very satisfied with my first visit here. The atmosphere is comfortable and slightly aged, giving it a more authentic vibe. The staff was very friendly, offered suggestions, and polite in all manners. They mistakenly forgot our appetizer before bringing out the meal and quickly prepared it for us.The foods sampled were the Pineapple Curry and Pad Ga-Praow, as well as a side of Fresh Rolls and a dessert of Mango w/ Sweet Rice (not sure of the name on this one!). The dishes are well seasoned, nothing was overdone and leaned more to a simpler, very enjoyable kind of meal. They weren’t the types of dishes that you try once and are blown away with flavor, but are more of a dish you’d enjoy at home and can keep coming back to several times over. The curry was certainly my favorite of the night (I have a weakness for curry…) but the dessert was delicious in its simplicity. The mango was perfectly ripe and cool with the hot, sweet sticky rice on the side. Overall, I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of their menu and see all that they have to offer.
A favorite. I was introduced to Salathai shortly after they opened 3 years ago. The currie is so wonderful. It is the hands down best meal in the hood with a price that is perfect for our community. It is one of our best locally owned Mom & Pop restaurants.
