Speechless… VERY unique experience. Paradoxical is the best explanation. What feels like an old bar on the surface but under the skin is a slow food, organic, dining experience. Organic salad that was fresh cut from the on property garden, free range chicken, and hand mashed guacamole, this place to is is a living paradox. And we LOVED it. If your in a hurry or just want to eat and run go somewhere else. If you want good food, fresh, and a unique atmosphere with lots of personality, this is the place. It helped that we were waited on by the owner who is a delightful man. Takes passion in his business and is also a crack up! Wonderful personality and a joy to be there. Out quick dinner turned into a couple hours after enjoying appetizers, dinner, dessert and then a tour if the premise which we learned he built himself. We are from ABQ and this place is a gem. But it challenge your stays quo in a lot of ways.Go!!

What a great restaurant. I had the most amazing New Mexico meal. The appetizers and flan for dessert were equally as good. Ben Michaels has a homey charm like being in my Grandmas kitchen.

Seriously?!. Last night’s experience was ridiculous. It was jazz night on the patio which looked fun so we ordered dinner around 7. At 8, dinner came, greasy and bland. Very unpleasant being surrounded by disgruntled customers who just wanted some food and drink. Our waitress appeared to be the only person hitting a lick in the whole establishment. Too many tables to handle. The owner seemed oblivious to what was going on and the chef was slooowwww. I think they must be high. The music was good, the cute guitar player greeted us because there was no hostess, natch. Ben Michael ought to host at home and through some chips and salsa on the coffee table to entertain those he chooses to schmooze. Incredibly unprofessional business.

We had a wonderful experience today at this Place The owner was so entertaining and the food was awesome! Try the flan, it was the best I have ever had. Go try it , you won’t be sorry!

Poor service/cold food. We met a party of 8 people and I ordered a quesadilla for my daughter and it came out incorrectly. The owner sent his waitress out to tell us that he would not remake it. After arguing with the waitstaff for 20 minutes and threatening to leave, my daughter finally got some cheese melted on a tortilla, without so much as a word from the owner the entire evening. We ate our cold food, and decided it was not a restaurant we would ever return to.

Needs Help. We were directed to Ben Michael’s for the awesome margaritas that they serve. Well, how can a Margarita be awesome if the establishment only has a beer and wine license?? The service is not up to par and the food so so. We cannot understand that an establishment in this particular location does not accept credit cards.
