Overpriced and Stale. Driving through town with my wife and kids and the New Mexico visitors guide listed this bakery in old town. I figured we would try something different after having a bunch of fast food. The promise of fresh baked bread sounded good too. Well this certainly was different, and definitely not fast. The service was slow, over 20 minutes for 4 sandwiches with no other customers there. The bread for the kids was somewhat stale and our bread looked like store bought, certainly not what we get from our local bakery. The chicken salad was particularly vile and we could not finish it. Overall extremely disappointing and way over priced. Seven dollars for a peanut butter sandwich with chips and a drink? I should have walked when I saw that but figured it would be something special. One the plus side the wait staff were very pleasant and had good personality. Just poor food and slow. Oh well lesson learned for next time.
Everything home-made. I have been going to this bakery monthly for the past six years…since they moved from their location on Charlevoix in Old Town. Everything is made fresh..that is what makes this place special. I like the larger selection of sandwiches made from their own bread. You can even buy loafs of freshly made bread to take home. There is also a huge selection of pastries. I don’t need to go to any other bakery!
Out of Control. Read the review from a blogger on this bakery and never had that kind of trouble.. However, I recently called the bakery to ask a question and I asked for the owner . He was not in, o.k…. the man who answered was extreme, short, curte, rude, with horrble customer service. Based just on this I will never visit this bakery ever again nor will I take my out of town friends there again. To the owner CHECK your staff he is very bad for your business… The owner is a very friendly guy, great greeter, warm & hospitable with his customers.Your staff suckssssss.West
Stale pastries. The only reason I ate here is because I was on the square and starving. For starters the cafe is filthy. Even though the tables were chained so no one could sit in them I chose to sit out side to force down my stale pastry, because their seats inside looked sweat stained from obese clientele pouring panicked sweat over sugary confections. I say panicked because the selection is meager at best. Its like they just make pastries on the 1st sell throughout the month. And to top it off It was way over priced Ive had better 80 cent pastries from a vending machine.
