Walk On By….. This was our third time dining at Red Sage. The first time was great, the second, we chalked up to an off night, but it seems every night is an off night now. Third time was definitely not the charm, which was sad because our suite, the couples massage, and a nice dinner seemed to be the best way to celebrate our anniversary. We made reservations for 8, but they were not needed. The place was almost empty. It was during the week, so there’s that. Our server was less than stellar, but we were able to observe a very attentive server handling most of the other tables…made us a little jealous. We got the lemon. So, we ordered the Lump Crab Cake. It was scrumptious, nestled on a bed of crisp green beans that we also devoured…we had to stop ourselves from licking the plate clean. I ordered the Diver Sea Scallops and added the Mashed Potatoes with Horseradish Mustard Seed and my husband ordered the Beef Tenderloin, medium, with the Loaded Baked Potato. He was unsure of which sauce he wanted, something different than his usual Oscar, the server suggested the Cranberry Demi. Great choice. This is where it went south. The dinner was prompt, without my mashed potatoes, that were brought over separately. They were sort of warm, looked like an afterthought, and the server joked they looked like an omelet, which they did….and kinda tasted like one…bland. I hate omelets. The scallops were cooked to perfection, the sweet vermouth sauce accompanied them perfectly. The roasted apples were good! The fingerling potatoes were bland, terrible, the rest was just lost. The third scallop had a bit of sand. I joked to my husband, if this was Top Chef, he would be through. Now, the steak, the sauce was splendid, the steak was more medium rare, the baked potato was average. We sat with plates for quite awhile, even though we were clearly finished with our meal. We passed on dessert. With so much hit or miss, I wish we had passed altogether. We will return to Buffalo Thunder, but not to the Red Sage.

COULD Be A Great Restaurant. The components are all there. Style, atmosphere, wait staff, menu. Execution isn’t. I suspect the food is prepared in a centralized kitchen which also is responsible for the large nightly buffet in another area of the casino. The red and golden roasted beet, arugula, and goat cheese salad has all the components to be a great dish, but the expeditor in the kitchen isn’t doing his job. Presentation lacking. Additionally, golden beets were missing in action. And I suspect the red beets were canned. The shrimp appetizer had possibilities, but the shrimp were very evidently not freshly prepared. Also, if you’re going to serve shell-on shrimp in an appetizer, at least clean them up first. I could go on, but won’t. Expectations weren’t met. What a waste.

Way overpriced buffet quality food. My wife choose this place for her birthday dinner based on a friend’s recommendation. The food was barely average. My daughters got the pasta and it was dry (sauce-less) and over cooked. I got the duck and it (along with everything else) was swimming in a barely warm soup. At these prices, you expect something unique and memorable. This was buffet quality food with a barely attentive wait staff that did not know much about serving/clearing in an upscale restaurant. And be VERY careful. They tacked on tip for a party of 5 and hid it in the middle of the bill (not at the end). Spent $250 here and will not go back. We wanted something different and got overpriced casino food. I told my wife that her friend needs to get out more if that’s what she considers a good restaurant.

Watch Out!. My family and I decided to spend our evening holiday and dine at the Red Sage. When you receive a bad meal or service it couldn’t come at a worst time than Christmas dinner with your family, and unfortunately we experienced it here. To sum up our experience, my soup was served cold , the prime rib dinners tasted like they were delivered from the left over food buffet next door, and my wife had to return her entree twice because it was cold. Cold Shell fish seafood entree! Little risky for a upscale restaurant that charges 42 dollars for a crab dinner. The biggest problem about the whole dinner was the fact that the manager came out and attempted a robotic type of apology but never offered to compensate us for any of our bill which added up to be over 300 dollars. The service we received from our waiter was almost perfect, and we were surprised we were not treated the same from management. Seems like the wait staff should be teaching the management how to treat their customers. If you do decide to eat here make sure you voice your concerns if you were treated as we were because your just a disposable customer to them and that’s all you will ever be. Thanks for a lousy Christmas dinner Red Sage.

Pretty Good. A week night with it seemed only one very good waiter who was rushed around doing it all. He was so pleasant and agreed to sub a baked potato for the diced from a bag of frozen potatoes that we had already not liked for breakfast. I want to strangle the person who thought it would be a good idea to stop peeling potatoes. Everywhere we go these days the french fries the mashed potatoes and the plain boiled are supposed to be enjoyed with the skin. My grandmother never heard of such a thing. Food was good but a bit pricey for the quality.

Great food, good price.. I don’t understand the people don’t like this place. Whats not to like? I eat there all the time, and every time I am blown away by the food. Every dish on the menu is delicious.

Wonderful. Have been there twice and love the food at Red Sage. Enjoyed it better than some of the same priced restaurants in Santa Fe. The pistachio blue salad is one of the best salads ever. The stilton cheese and mustard seed dressing really compliment each other. Delicious. Also love the pablano pepper stuffed with lobster, a very good entree. Great atmosphere, sit outside if it’s a nice evening, can’t get a better view.Buffalo Thunder is a very nice property. Red Sage Restaurant was a added surprise!
