Crazed Counterperson. There are times Out West when you walk into a place, and sense you should get out of there. This seemingly innocuous place just outside the resort should be avoided. I went in and asked for a brewed coffee and a latte for my wife. The owner/counterperson seemed jumpy, perhaps on drugs. When he gave me a watery espresso (an Americano) I said I had asked for a brewed coffee. He countered this was better. When I objected that it was not what I ordered, he told me to get the f**k out of here! in a loud voice. I was suddenly surrounded by some tattooed hippies who had come in from the deck. I had already paid, and was a bit freaked out, but I was not going to back down from someone being that offensive and ridiculous, so I told him Fine, dropped it on the floor, and walked out. He needs to get on top of his anger, which was clear from the moment we walked in.
Veggies &Carnivores alike. I’ve heard raves about the Pizza; but I have not tried any. I’v been hereat least twice (passing thru). Very, very happy with the menu. Any vegetarian can be well fed here. All types of fruit & vegetable juices avail. I usually get a hummus & avo’s & salad. You can build your own wrap or sandwich. Lots of organic veggies & sprouts too. Listed in Happy Cow also.. Comfy couches & tables. Can eat outside. Wifi & fax avail. Prices are very reasonable. You’ll pay more than a fast food place; but this is good, good food. Thanks.
Quiche, Chai, & Pizza. There’s usually a home made soup available too. The hummus is excellent. Dessert is fresh bakery goods. The cafe is a one-man show where everything is cooked and baked by the owner. Oh, and the cafe is set up to do credit cards now. Local checks are accepted too. The patio area is beautiful in spring, summer and fall, and you can wander through the owner’s little vegetable garden.
Super place! GREAT pizza, great quiche, amazing Thai coconut curry soup, and great big cookies. Best pizza we’ve had in years. Highly recommended.
Delicious!. We had lunch today at Red Mountain and loved it. We had great pastrami sandwiches – not too sweet iced tea – and a cookie for the road. The owner, David, is friendly and provided us with two routes for traveling further on to Taos. Great to have this cafe stop in between Santa Fe and Taos – and we would recommend it all traveling along highway 285.
Hot, fresh, and homemade. I’m local, so maybe I’m biased, but I love the coffee and the baked goods. Everything is prepared on the premises – homemade soups, smoothies, sandwiches, brownies, etc. There’s a rumor afoot that they’re going to start doing hand-crafted pizza, too!
Best Pizza Ever. Passing through Ojo, I met the owner/chef David who gave me a sample of the Best Pizza I have ever eaten. Brooklyn style, green chile pesto, with roasted chicken.. the opening night for pizza is saturday Jan 29… from 4pm to 9pm.
