Delicious Food. Visited a few times and their food was always fresh and delicious! Their green chile smothered burrito or green chile enchiladas are sooooo good!
April 5th Review. It is with great frustration to read the former customer’s reporting of deception in check presentation and pricing. We strive to prepare and serve fresh and local cuisine, and to deliver personal and attentive service, without any smoke and mirrors, just straightforward excellent cuisine at fair prices. The 18% gratuity the customer is speaking of was added due to a request for separate checks and payment, which we explicitly state as permissible on our menu. Also, this was explained to the customers when we presented the check, so that they would NOT accidentally double their gratuity, and to let them know if they wanted to add a little more. While this is common business practice in restaurants around the world, it is unfortunate in this occurrence that they were left feeling deceived. We will examine our policies and training of our servers as a result of their feedback, to see that such a misunderstanding is avoided in the future, and get back to what we do best. Thanks for your feedback. – Chris, GM
THEY ADD 18% AUTOMATICALLY. WARNING THEY AUTOMATICALLY ADD 18% TIP TO YOUR BILLWe went there on the advise of a local who said the food was better than Love Apple or La Mese. We had a perfectly enjoyable dinner, I personally thought the Doc Martin Relenos were fabulous. Then the bill, they added 18% automatically. REALLY!!!! I get that you might want to reserve the right to do this to Europeans or South Americans, but to a group of native English speakers from Chicago where we know that 20% is a minimum tip for even average service is unacceptable. To me this is a trick to get unsuspecting, chatty and wine drinking tourists to double tip. In Chicago, New York or Washington, D.C. I have never seen this added to a group under 8 without it being clearly announced that the management automatically added a tip because they paid there servers an above minimum wage living wage. Did not see such a statement anywhere. Very annoying.
Gotta try the rattlesnake and rabbit sausage in the spicy cherry sauce, the other food choices were flavorful as well. You pay a bit more for the location but the vibe in the quaint hotel lobby / music lounge is totally chill, like hanging out with neighborhood friends – free live music nightly and enjoyable at that!
The food was only average and our waitress seemed to want us to leave because she brought the bill before we had even finished our meal.
Food was pretty good. Four of us ate (one was a child’s meal) and we had one appetizer and two mixed drinks and the bill was $104. Watch out…top shelf ritas are $10/per. But one must expect that in a tourist serves area like Taos. Service at our table was very slow (Edward S.) but other wait staff seemed to be on it and attentive to their customers. I think the curent 75% rating average pretty much sums up our experience.
Happy Hour Deal. The food at Doc’s ia great. The deal of the day is the Happy Hour specials.
