It may not look like much inside, but we were welcome by a sweet smile from a woman of tiny stature. She was lovely! The food was very good.Udon and ramen soups were very filling, meals in themselves. Udon was perfect – very chewy with a flavorful broth and crisp veggies. My only wish – more fish cake.Ramen was peanutty (which isn’t my favorite), but it took was chock full of noddles and crisp veggies. And what’s better than a poached egg on top?Kung pao seafood was rockin’! The squid was so delicately and perfectly cooked it just melted away in your mouth. Again, another peanut dish, with loads of them!Black pepper beef was very rich and had that excellent char I so desperately crave. Veggies were again toothsome.A very nice change from all the New Mex joints.

Sesame Chicken. The sesame chicken was delicious — crispy, not too sweet, and with great sesame flavor.

If you want good sushi in Taos, go to sushi ala hatori. Or smiths grocery, they make it fresh right there. Although there are a few good things to eat at songs, the service is terrible! Expect to wait! And be bamboozled by the little oriental woman who owns it. She tried to make us pay twice once because she didn’t remember that we had just paid! Her head might be scrambled. Be warned!

Wider Variety, Good Food. I was impressed at the variety on the menu at Songs. You can find Chinese-American classics, Vietnamese Pho, and Sushi all under the same roof. And while that might seem conflicting to execute well, Songs delivers great tasting food at a very reasonable price.

Ms.. Delicious Oriental food at reasonable prices, prepared and served by a welcoming, friendly crew.
