ABSOLUTLELY AWESOME!!!!. AWESOME!! I decided to try a new resturant So after hearing about Ropers i took my family to eat there. From the minute we walked in we were greated by a lovely Girl named Priscilla i think. this girl got our drinks immediatly and was so friendly. our order was taken by or waiter whos name was Richard he was very friendly and very attentive. I ordered the Broasted Chicken with mashed potatoes and creamy wite gravy with green chile in it. It was Amazing the chicken was so juicy and the potatoes were perfect. my mom got the Broasted Pork chops and she was in heaven. our experiance at Ropers was the best we have had at any other resturant and i would and have recommended this resturant to anyone and everyone. Since our first visit we have been back several times. My children love the pancakes and waffles. also the Carne adovada is great!! The Owner whos Name is Robert has been there everytime we have been there and i have never seen an owner who stays there all the time and greets the customers and always makes sure they are taken care of. My experience was just absolutely incredibly!! Thanks so very much to all the staff at Ropers for making our experiences so AWESOME!!!!!!
BAD Real BAD. Ropers was a perry good place to eat. The action word is WAS. It is recently been sold and the new owner is not up to the standards we expected. EXAMPLE: We ordered breakfast. The fried potatoes were first boiled to mush and then put on the grill in old grease to provide some browning before they were served. I can’t get that taste of old grease out of my mouth and it’s been six hours ago. The cheese omelet had a little cheese on the outside and none on the inside of the omelet. Again cooked in old grease. In addition the menu said a three egg omelet. If that had three eggs in it they were the smallest eggs you could get. Ordered wheat toast with the meal. Reminded the waitress three times and still didn’t get any toast. The beacon was over cooked to the point of burnt. The white gravy on my wife’s biscuits was like library paste. Both meals were luke warm at best. About half way thru the meal an older staff member went into the restroom and cleaned them. Then she walked through the dinning room carrying an old dirty wet dripping mop that had been used to mop the restroom floors. This was within a foot of the setup buffet line that had uncovered food. I also observed the owner restocking meat items and other buffet items with ungloved hands. This WAS a nice little place to have breakfast. Not anymore. We won’t be back.
Same great food. Met the new owner today. Nice and professional. Had mexican combo plate and it was as fresh and good as ever. The menu is the same with more choices and innovative specials. You can still request the extra hot green chili. Still a goto place for variety and a tasty meal.
New Ownership Not So Good. Roper’s is under new ownership. Today at lunch, instead of the thick, juicy burgers for which Roper’s is famous, we received flat, skimpy, previously frozen patties of poor texture that were probably less than 1/4 pound, rather than the 1/2 pound size still described on the menu. In the past we were asked whether we wanted our burgers rare, medium, or well done on ordering, but no such attention today – you get what you get, and it’s nowhere near as good as it was. The new owner appears to be making foolish cost cuts where it matters the most. I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not eat there again.
Good food, but…. Always being on the lookout for good indie restaurants we tried Roper’s for brunch one Saturday. The speciality pancakes are totally worth driving across town for. However, the thing that keeps me from saying nicer things about the place is the service. It was ragingly lackluster. Our waitress spent an alarming amount of time leaning on the counter, avoiding our attempts to make contact. And trying to get the attention of other wait staff? Hopeless – he was too busy flirting with one of the other patrons. Our coffee went unrefilled. Water glasses sat empty. Service was abysmal. The food is great, too bad the service sucks.
REALLY good!. Ropers has the BEST green chile blue cheese salad dressing, and I had green chile gravy on my chicken fried steak…..The most wonderful flavor. I always enjoy the look/feel of the place…..very casual and homey. Great prices and portions too….I am headed there again tomorrow for the Father’s Day Buffet!
AMAZING Santa Fe Pancakes!. Didn’t know anything about this place but my car just turned into the parking lot and I had an AMAZING breakfast! Santa Fe pancakes which are blue corn pancakes with green chili ((which had a nice kick to it, thankfully)) and pinon nuts. That combination with maple syrup really hit the spot. It was served with 2 eggs and a generous helping of bacon. Add a good cup of coffee and I was out the front door for $8.99 including tax. WILL DEFINITELY RETURN!
