Love this place! We have been customers since it came to albuquerque and have loved it! Today the sushi roller asked for our order and we mentioned a avocado allergy so he consciously removed his plastic gloves, washed his hands and put on a fresh set of gloves. This is the first time at any restaurant we saw such an effort to avoid cross contamination with our food!
Very interesting concept. Let’s hire high school kids to make simple sushi rolls. Let’s let the customers customize their rolls.The concept works! It’s always packed! Perfect for Albuquerque as long as you are not the type of person who orders omakase at a Japanese restaurant.
Fresh and priced right! We were looking forward to the opening of sushi freak and have now been there 4 times. The look and vibe are cool for sure. The service is friendly, but the roll makers need to learn speed and to make the rolls tighter so they don’t fall apart. Portion sizes are good but a little inconsistent. I recommend making your own roll if you know what you like!
I’m an avid sushi eater and I was impatiently waiting for this place to open. I was super excited to see their more-than-reasonable prices upon arriving. It’s Chipotle-esque when it comes time to order and you’re able to customize rolls or sushirittos (a sushi burrito for those who aren’t familiar). I ordered a simple Philadelphia roll topped with spicy mayo just to see if their flavors/ingredients are as expected and they definitely were. My roll was a great size, not skimpy on ingredients, and tasted fresh! I’ll definitely be returning. They also have a punch card if you buy 10, get 1 free. I love incentive programs and places that give back to their customers!
