This is my childhood bakery. Been going there since I was a little boy with my mom. I take my kids there now and a trip to ABQ would not be complete without a trip to Le Chantilly, Sadie’s, Dions Pizza, and Buffets Candy.
Unsavory service. I always try to support local shops in my area. The thing that puts me off about this place is the staff. They just seem so unattentive and disengaged. Allthough they make a mean hot crossed bun the staff should eat some sugar as they are rude. I will for go pasteries from this place and they are other options with less cost and better ambiance.
Good pastries but disconnected staff. Attention to detail (like somplace to put coffee spoon other than on bare counter) lacking. Breakfast (ie grn chile croissant) is nuked. Counter could do w/good cleaning as papers are left all over. They should post a sign to the effect that cell phone users, to minimize disruption and/or annoyance for other customers, should NOT carry on extended conversations. One minute or take it elsewhere; staff cannot say anything so management should. After years of going to this shop, I will not be back.
Went for breakfast and what I learned is if you’re not over 50 or a regular you don’t get the service. If you’re younger avoid this place. Once you retire it’s the place to go. The staff is more interested in chatting than waiting on its younger customers.
My first visit and I was very impressed. The interior is lovely, with a gorgeous mural running the length of the cafe. They had plenty of pastries to choose from, and clearly made with pride. Even my cappuccino was perfect. The staff was very helpful, so I don’t know what those reviewers were complaining about. The Quiche Lorraine was outstanding, as well as the couple pastries I took with me. I’d recommend this place to the connoisseur looking for exceptional quality cafe.
Not a Fan!. My family stopped in this place for some desserts and coffee and left feeling nothing. The staff was weird and didn’t seem too interested in helping our large group. We ordered 4 pastries and it was over $20. I don’t mind paying that much for great food but the desserts weren’t anything exceptional. My biggest complaint was the seating area. The place is a mess with old dirty carpet and junk stacked up in the back of the restaurant. The place didn’t smell like a yummy bakery but more like a daycare center. It had this old grandma’s attic smell that I just couldn’t deal with. Spend a little money and make your place look nice and then hire some friendly people to mind the counter.
Great lunch. I had lunch here and had a great experience. My soup and croissant were delicious, the atmosphere was good, and the waitress was just dynamite. I will definitely be back.
