Pacific Paradise has been on my list of places to try. I finally did a few days ago. Thumbs up on the experience. The interior is decorated in a sort of Kon-Tiki style. We found seats in a booth, which were a tad uncomfortable for me, but tolerable. The waitress was very friendly and fun to talk to.Our orders were virtually identical. We started with sushi (California rolls) that came with the requisite ginger slices and wasabi, but also included was a choice of cup of soup. We picked hot-and-sour soup, which was really tasty with a nice bite to it. It had a flavor profile different from most other places I’ve eaten at. One of these days, I’ll order a large bowl of it.Next came a small, tasty tossed salad. Our entrees were shrimp with asparagus. I chose the heat level at 6/10, which was hot, but not outrageous. I’ll probably click it up a notch next time. The plating was very attractive. In the corner of the plate was a nest of spiral cut carrot strips with a daikon rose on top. The shrimp (with tails still on for more flavor) and asparagus was cooked beautifully and was quite tasty. A bowl of jasmine rice accompanied the dish, and a glass of wine washed everything down. For dessert, I had ice cream (two scoops). I chose a scoop of green tea and a scoop of their new black sesame ice cream (which had a slightly smoky flavor). Both were quite yummy and a nice tastebud experience. Our whole experience was great. My only complaint is the chopsticks are a couple of inches too short. I couldn’t figure out at first why I was having trouble with them. I’ll bring my own next time.
No Miso Soup with Take-Out. Pacific Paradise has a great atmosphere. The tropical decorations make you pine for the beach. The hostess is nice. The servers are reserved but acceptable, with the exception of one older gentleman who is very friendly. The sushi is delicious, fresh and not too expensive, but please don’t try the cooked food. It is very clearly frozen; the dipping sauces they give you are very tasty and obviously designed to cover the frozen taste. I plan on returning for the sushi!Something that left a bad taste in my mouth, though, was when I ordered take-out. It is custom to always serve a soup (usually miso) with sushi. I ordered a complimentary miso soup and hot and sour soup with my take-out order and they just ignored my request without comment. I didn’t check the to-go bag until I left so I thought they simply forgot to include it. No problem. However, when I ordered take-out again, they behaved the same way; the soup was missing although they appeared to accept my order. I feel this is not a good break with tradition and pointless penny-saving. Not to mention, very inefficient communication. So they have lost a customer on the take-out, but dining in is always enjoyable.
I love this place. It was my spot for my first date with my wife and where I proposed to her. Top notch sushi, friendly staff, huge variety of Asian food styles. Where else can you get sushi, Chinese, Mongolian, Korean, Hawaiian all in the same place? The chef has some awesome specialty dishes as well, some of them not my style, but very good all the same. This spot has a place in my heart, for sure.
Review. I have given this establishment my business for many years now. I have never had a meal I didn’t like, although I do have my favorites. It is a true mom and pop place where you come to know the owners and staff, always gracious and eager to serve. We recently had our daughters rehearsal dinner at this restaurant. We were absolutely delighted at their efforts and success in going above and beyond our expectations. The food, sushi, service – everything to the adorable way the napkins were folded – it was amazing. What a fun evening! Thank you Pacific Paradise Staff!
Cute and tasty. I went here on a lark and I liked it. They have Polynesian themed decor and Pacific Rim inspired food. It’s wasn’t fancy. If you want off the beaten track cuisine in a casual atmosphere at low prices, then this place is worth a shot.
This place is amazing! The atmosphere and food is great. I love the sushi!
Very Disappointed. I’ve been a loyal customer of Pacific Paradise for several years and love the food. However, recently, the service has degenerated to the point that I will never return. On two occasions in the last two months, I was seated and then totally ignored. The first time I waited 10 minutes to get even a glass of water. The second–and last time I will ever go to this place–I simply got up and left after 15 minutes. Also, I placed a large dinner to-go order about a month ago, and was told it would take an hour to prepare: when I arrived (1 h 10 m later), there was NO record of my order. No food is worth such shoddy treatment…or the ire of one’s friends on a Friday night.
